Just watched it today...

When Tuvok was made Captain and really had no original plan to go back to the planet (before Harry threw his hissy fit), why didn't he start wearing a red command outfit with 4 pips? He'd been Captaining Voyager for 2 months?

Also, I laughed a lot when Kes said to him 'Many of the crew are on the bridge wanting to talk to you'... and out he walks to 10 crew. Many of the crew? Surely out of 150 people, they could have done a bit better than that! LOL!

Yeah, I wondered about that too It's only a few people, all he needs to do is that whole "this phaser is set to wide beam dispersal" bit from Cathexis again, and BAM, mutiny avoided. I'm guessing by this point he's got most of them confined to quarters.

As for his uniform, I wondered about that too. We've seen in Enterprise that both Trip and T'Pol (who wasn't even Starfleet) wore a Captain's uniform. In the Best of Both Worlds, they're practically pinning a fourth pip on Riker before Picard's even dematerialised... Maybe Tuvok was doing it as a sign of respect for Janeway, maybe somewhere at the back of his mind he knew he was only keeping the seat warm.

I can't remember though if they followed naval tradition and called him Captain. I've got a feeling they still called him Lieutenant. Maybe it was at his own request.

The whole episode strikes me as odd that it takes place over a few months, but you never really get that feeling from it. It somehow feels rushed, and neither Janeway, Chakotay or Tuvok were given any time to settle into their new surroundings. Hmm...

Would a change of uniform really be necessary? It doesn't change your ability to do the job, so Tuvok probably just thought it was illogical to waste time on something so meaningless.

As for feeling rushed, you are never going to adequately convey a period of months in forty minutes. The bridge scenes felt like a couple of days at best, but on the surface it felt like a few months.

It was a good episode, thankfully Janeway canned her emotions, it could have got real ugly down there otherwise.

Oh, Boy Wonder, I don't think so. It would have made things more interesting I think if she hadn't canned her emotions. I would have liked to explore the possibility of romance between those two but of course I'm not the producers of the series..but if I had been..WOW! But I'd probably let those two get together in the very last episode.
I do agree about the uniform, however, one does not need a uniform to prove themselves worthy. Especially Tuvok!
And yes, having like ten people instead of 150 crewmembers on the bridge is a little odd to me.

Well since he was a Lieutenant early on but was wearing Lieutnenant Commander pips for the longest time, he obviously didn't know what the pips were for.

Jongredic, they did call him 'Captain Tuvok'... at least Harry did I think at one point. And JoeD80, lol, true, he was never good with pips... LOL. That explains it all!

I just think it would have been a nice touch to dress him in the red, to show they had really moved on. I loved the idea of the episode, but it did seem rushed, and they whole thing with the monkey was a bit daft. Especially how Janeway kept holding out her hand to it... lol. Dont get me wrong, I am a massive Janeway fan... but her acting in this episode was a bit odd... I cant put my finger on it.

This was a good episode, though maybe it could have been done better as a 2 parter.

I'm not on the shipper bandwagon for Star Trek. All the romances have been really poorly done usually without a modicum of credibility, Dax and Worf being the only one that made sense.

Janeway never would have had a fling/relationship with a subordinate, she may have flipped flopped her morals on most things, that subject I doubt she would. Besides, I know the writers would have botched it up. Probably turn Janeway into a jealous bitch when c/7 happened. Too soap operish.
