Episode IX Speculation and Discussion

With a runtime of 155 minutes, there's plenty of time to include a brief explanation of what happened.

Just as long as it isn't "You humans think in limited three dimensional terms", "You jest, of course. I'm indestructible, the whole universe knows that!", or "What you didn't look down one second longer as I opened my parachute or force-teleported myself to my space yacht the way Rey sent some water to Kylo?"

^^ sorry for the grammatical boo-boo, for optimal theatrical effect there was supposed to be a comma between "what" and "you", or alternatively swapping a word and using "Why didn't you" instead... but given the timestamp, my coffee buzz was already over with and I've yet to get today's dose... which may have explained a lack of comma earlier in this post self-chastising over the use of commas... :o

I have no doubt we will get something.

I just know it won't satisfy all.

To be honest, the reason he is alive is secondary to the fact they will give us one at all. At the end of the day this is Star Wars, if Leia can survive in the vacuum of space then anything is possible.

Some speculation incoming. I've tried to keep up with this thread but I've missed a bunch recently. Just had a couple of low-impact thoughts on Snoke and thought I'd run it by you all, especially those of you caught up with all the canon literature:

Based on the conversation Han and Leia have in The Force Awakens at the base on D'Qar, my guess is Snoke was:
a) a former instructor at Luke's Jedi academy
b) an expert on The Force and ancient Jedi knowledge
c) combination of the above
This puts Snoke close enough to Ben to turn him to Kylo over time.
I don't think that would work, the future First Order encountered Snoke out in the Unknown Regions, and I can't really see him having been able to get that close to Luke, and Co.

As part of a video for a new sweepstakes where you can win a dinner with Mark Hamill and tickets to the Rise of Skywalker premiere, he watched and commented on his first screen test for the original movie. It's pretty fun, and definitely worth a watch.

If things that I've heard turn out to be true, those expecting dialogue referencing Palpatine's survival are going to end up disappointed.
Don't try to frighten us with your alleged insider knowledge, Lord Digific. Your sad devotion to repeatedly claiming superior insight on future movie and TV events has not helped you conjure up that John Harrison was Khan or young William was the Man in Black in Westworld, or given you clairvoyance enough to predict that Jon Snow would return from the dead…

I bet you think you're choking me right now, don't you? Haha! We've all just let you think you can Force choke us for years. We just rotate admiral and captain jobs.

I mean, even in the old, old Making of Star Wars they put out later in 1977, you can tell Mark, Carrie, and Harrison, were having fun on set.

I'm very skeptical of this because it speaks to information that Todd Fisher could not have possessed based on the state of Treverow's script at the time of Carrie's death, the fact that, just days after her death, Treverow threw out what script he had and started over from scratch, and the fact that Treverow's inability to deliver a new script is what led to him parting ways with Lucasfilm.

MM... the way i read it, the headline is a bit misleading.... the title of the previous movie would have switched who it was speaking of...THAT was apparently thrown out due to Fisher's death... and that also would have led to some interesting intercations in The Rise of Skywalker, which is now instead integrating previously filmed material that apparently has Todd Fisher's solid approval.

Todd is specifically talking about Episode 9, but as I noted, he's speaking to thimgs he couldn't have known about.

Looks like the marketing is starting... EW article is out with some interesting pics.

ETA: There's also some TV spots (saw on FB) that have some new footage but I hate how they crop the FB ads so I'm not sharing those.

First, I'm betting they're not in space. That Finn is standing there makes me think they're in atmo.

Second, gee, utilizing the Force to jump. We've never ever seen that before.

ugh. if luke or anakin did this i'd think it was just as cringy

Just to be clear. I'm not a fan of the sequel trilogy. At all. I thought TFA was derivative but just OK, and TLJ was absolute trash. I would rather watch the prequels.

You however seem to be that desperate to trash the ST on these boards that you are now grasping at... absolutely zero.

I mean there is literally nothing of substance worth criticising here, and as Campe98 has pointed out is consistent with the Jedi in other SW films, Luke does it in ESB for fucks sake.

I would say at this point you're simply trolling, but you've been doing that for weeks already.
