ENT's final season would have started this fall

Looking at these ideas (and indeed recalling the many hundreds of posts I must've seen since 2005) it's a real pity we've never been able to piece everything together, co-operate and write our own scripts. How we'd get those episodes represented is another problem... maybe in fan fiction form, as an audio drama, or something altogether more ambitious.
If you ever do, just point me at them.

At the top of Season 5, I expect the first episode would've gotten mixed reactions. Showing that the events in TATV aren't certain or at the very least, no longer a fixed point in history... as the last ENT novel proved, some fans bought into that and others weren't convinced. Fortunately in a weekly TV show, by the next episode everything is back on track again. Other series like The X-Files frequently had a main character die, commit sucide, disappear and so on... only for a far reaching story arc to bring them back or paint events shown before in a new light.

Bringing Shran into the crew (or at least a permanent presence aboard the NX-01). I've always been in the group who rather liked this idea. Having gone through the Andorian/Romulan arc the year before, and as someone supportive of a collation - Shran would undoubtedly be aware of what's at stake when his superiors refuse to back the pinkskins in the conflict.

Something else I recall reading about was a revelation about T'Pol's father being revealed as a Romulan infiltrator, presumed dead when she was young. Another strong storyline to stretch Jolene's acting above the usual condescending responses. Expanding on her TOS style humour which I really liked in Bound would'nt go amiss.

Niners set a lot of store by the last three seasons of DS-9; and 7 of 9 was a great character -- one of the best in Trek -- who didn't appear until Season 4 of VOY.
You do know Seven was brought onto the show to boost ratings? The same for when TPTB brought Worf to DS9...for all the good it did to either series, since the ratings spiked for half a season before declining again.

In any case, I still stand by what I said earlier. The assumption of seven seasons hurt this show badly, and especially coming off the heels of Voyager.

Yes, I've heard they were brought on to boost ratings; as far as I know, every show is concerned with keeping or boosting ratings.

Worf and Seven are two of the most popular and iconic Trek figures; it would have been a shame for fans to miss their continuing appearances.

I'm grateful for all the Trek that makes it to the screen, even my less favorite ones. The ones I don't like, some other fans do; and that is only good for the world of Star Trek.

I would have expected Coto to throw more fanboyish Star Trek references together, desperately hoping a coherant plot emerges from one of them.

Screw it. As long as they were good references, who cares? Aside from the most nitpicky and perfectionist fans, that is. At this stage I'd have taken imperfect fanwank to cancellation.

S5 - Tensions between the Andorians, Tellerites, Vulcans and humans are mitigated by the need to band against a common enemy. Season finale: Earth-Romulan War begins.

S6 - Entire season devoted to the war. Only Earth is fighting officially but Earth-friendly allies among the Andorians, Tellerites, Vulcans play a role. Lots of Shran and Soval. Unbeknownst to everyone, the Romulans have infiltrated Vulcan society enough to keep them out of the fight through duplicity and double dealing. Season finale: all looks lost for Earth.

S7 - Earth is on the ropes but Archer & the gang manage to cobble together the first incarnation of what will become the Federation as an alliance to save their butts. Season finale: Federation officially founded.

I dunno how long the war should have lasted canon-wise, but remember there's no reason that the rule of one season = one year needs to apply.

That's more or less how I picture it as well. Maybe half way through season seven the war is ended and the rest of the season returns to some exploration with occasional talk about a more permanent alliance being negotiated not actually materializing until the finale 2 or 3 part episode set on earth with archer giving his speech perhaps with a story of Archer/T'Pol on the NCC-1701 launch to tie ENT into TOS neatly.

An Archer/T'Pol relationship up to that time would be good because well I read that Archer dies the day after the USS Enterprise NCC 1701 was launched.

A Talaxian would have made a screen appearence in the background at one point. And you all thought having the Borg was bad.

How is that possible? The Talaxian race is from the Delta Quadrant. It would be impossible for the Enterprise to have gotten there or for them to even made contact with humans, not even Neelix in Voyager knew about humans until he met them, its just impossible.

The Borg is from the Delta Quadrant too. Also, it was established in Dragon's teeth that they were a spacefaring people for a very long time so its entirely possible that a Talaxian made it to "our" part of the galaxy at one point. Besides, many fans used similar rationale for why the Ferengi shouldn't have appeared or even have been mentioned. Also, the NX-01 could have encountered a stable Barzan wormhole (they'd say the data about it was lost along with the video of the Ferengi Trip taped). I wouldn't put it past the producers and the writers seeing what they actually came up with.

The Borg in the Enterprise episode "Regeneration" were a result of the USS Enterprise NCC 1701-E destroying the Borg Sphere over Earth in Star Trek First Contact during the year 2063, if you remember, it was mentioned the ship was a perfect sphere, therefore the Borg in that episode were logical. Also Talaxians are still in the Delta Quadrant and don't you remember that Voyager had over a 70 year journey to return to the Alpha Quadrant? Its just impossible that the Talaxians would venture that far away from home. As for the Ferengi, they always are looking for ships to steal the valuables from like they did to Enterprise.

We also would have gotten the origin of the Borg Queen episode that was mentioned by Judith and Gar Steeves-Reevens last year I think. I would have liked to have seen Shran incorperated into the crew, more building of the Coalition and a reason why Earth seems to be the one fighting the Romulan War. I think season six and season seven would had been dedicated to the Earth/Romulan war with a two hour series finale resolving it and showing the formation of the United Federation of Planets. Also remember that last season the writers strike would have affected the show so its final season could have been pushed to this fall.

There isn't any canon evidence that no Talaxian had made it to "our" part of the galaxy. It was shown that apparently Talaxians had contact with warp capable races as early as the 15th century (or so). So there is a chance a Talaxian could have made it all the way here. And why not? Not long before Voyager ended, we saw a Talaxian colony 40,000 light years from Talax. They had escaped an occupied Talax about 20 years (at the most) or so earlier. So that leaves other 880 years for a Talaxian to go an extra 30,000 light years. :bolian:

Its possible that races from the Delta Quadrant were able to reach the Alpha Quadrant the same way that the Ferengi did, through an unstable wormhole! I doubt that without using a wormhole or transwarp drive it would even be possible, unless you're flung here or there by an extremely advanced species (I.e. The Caretaker species)

Another thought I had way back then was that it would be an interesting shocker to kill Archer off partway thru the series and have T'Pol and/or Trip have to step up into a leadership position.

I doubt that they would have gone and killed off the series lead, especially since the Mirror Universe episode displayed Archer having survived until the original Enterprise's commission in 2245. It certainally would have been a bold move though...no other series has done that obviously.

I wish that was the picture. People get all slap-happy about Coto announcing he would've done the Cloud Miners (ENT style). Cloud Miners was a boring TOS episode. Unless it had to do with the furthering of the Romulan War, I think they probably should've skipped it.

Anyway, yours I'd watch. The way ENT was heading, I was ready to jump the shark.

Except this. In the series, they kept saying how important Archer was. I would've been in favor of T'Pol taking more of a leadership position, instead of becoming the shrinking violet they'd made her in season 4. Having her go back and participate in the Kolinahr would've helped and then her become ambassador to Vulcan.

Trip. No. Not ambassador material in the same way McCoy will never be ambassador material. At the end of the series, give the dude his own ship so that he can learn, too.

It certainally would have been a bold move though...no other series has done that obviously.

Blake's 7. B5, Sinclair disappeared. It's been done. Although Avon is my favorite character, once Blake left the series was less fun to watch.

Season 7 would have started with people saying

"what's that black guy's name again? the one who just says "aye Captain"?
