Enterprise's CGI effects: HD quality?

Since I have heard reports of Enterprise airing in HD, I assume that the effects are of sufficient quality to show that way. Were they actually done with HD quality, or just SD upscaled?

I had the impression the series aired in a letterbox format because they were produced with future HD release (broadcast AND optical media) in mind.

I'm not talking about aspect ratio, I mean the actual quality/resolution of the effects themselves.

I don't think they would film in HD, and then request CGI shots in SD.

Effects are in HD quality. It was produced that way from the start. Some UPN stations aired it in HD during its original run.
