So the very first picture of the 1701 released was in fact the first glimpse of it (completed) in the movie! I'm curious what people thought of the scene?
Personally, I thought it was FANTASTIC. I was dreading an over-the-top 5 minute sequence wanking over every tiny detail on the ship.
But the way it almost came out of the blue, combined with the camera angle and fantastic dramatic music, and the way the massive ship was revealed via a pulling-away shuttle, was spot on for me. Excellent scene.
Bear in mind, for those that will compare it to the one from TMP... that Enterprise had an emotional bond with Kirk and the crew, and the Star Trek franchise as a whole, it deserved the emotional 'reunion' as it where.
This 1701, is brand new and shiny, and I can definitely understand the toned down welcome it got on screen. Worked really well I thought.
