Enterprise reveal... what did you think?

I really wish they HAD spent more time letting us see the ship, because everything moved so fast, it's like you've got to buy a model or toy to actually find out what the ship really looks like.

Hmmm...

There may have been a reason for the limited glimpses....they ain't stupid.

There were several instances where you had a clear view of the Big E.

I don't think you were paying much attention. :wtf:

If it weren't for the internet I would not have remembered what the first shot of the Enterprise looked like.

I loved the reveal, nice and simple shot from the shuttle and a glimpse of the name before heading inside.

It was perfect for this new ship. I watched FC last night and the reveal of their new Enterprise was dreadful. Considering it was a whole new ship and the dramatic new design all we got was a standard shot and monologue.

EXACTLY!!!

That ship got no respect! When I saw that shot for the first time, I was like, "That's it?". Even the music for that reveal was lackluster...it was the cinematic equivalent of "ho-hum".

Oh, you just reminded me above of the shot with the ship's name and number: that's when I almost started to really cry. It just hammered home that I was back in a theatre, seeing Star Trek again.

Absolutely! Me too! The music really brought to the top!

I know it's silly, but my Dad is 74 now, and will be seeing this movie for the first time this weekend. He'll probably feel the same way I do with those shots.

The man's been an architect, flew in the Korean War, and done tons of stuff, but he'll get misty-eyed with a fictional starship.

I thought it worked perfectly well to have McCoy introduce the scene as awestruck by the ship's beauty, kind of neat to see him not bitching about something (although I love it when he bitches about things, like being "drafted" in TMP)

I really loved that scene and the awestruck look he gives. For someone who'd rather spend his take-offs hiding in the john he was definitely impressed! Totally made me want to see what he was looking at...

This ship reminded me so much of TMP Enterprise that I got emotional every time I saw it on screen. She was gorgeous, majestic and simply put, a lady.

I wished the reveal was a few seconds longer, but otherwise, it was great. I also loved the shot of her lifting out of the clouds of Titan...that was beautiful.

I thought she was gorgeous. While nothing can replace my love for the original 1701, this one is right up there with some of my favorite Star Trek ships. I have to say I really loved the Kelvin as well, which I was a little iffy about prior to the movie, now I love the Kelvin as well.

My question was, when we first see the side view of the enterprise (shuttles flying towards it) where is it connected to the space dock? The dialouge after says they are detaching from space dock but we dont see it.

At the very front of the saucer?

Bear in mind in the spacedock pic each docking port has about 5 or so spotlights pointed at the ship. That could be what the shine on the front of the E's saucer is.

Yup, your right, hence the lights shining on the saucer. Weird, they did not show it more, maybe they wanted the focus to be just on the Enterprise.

Yeah it makes sense not to have any distractions. Also explains why the nacelles are cut off... to centralise the shot a bit more.

Stop being rude to other forum members.

I said the movie moved too fast to get a good look.

And it did.

I didn't say I wasn't paying attention.

I said I wanted more.

Mind your manners.

The firs reveal was alright, but it palled in comparison to the Ent coming up from behind Titan. That was something else

But we got a number of good looks at the ship from all kinds of angles.

I actually disagree, it would have been nice to see a couple more shots of the ship.

Apart from the reveal, the Titan shot, and the final flyby... all the other shots of the ship were quite quick. Could have done with 1 or 2 more beauty shots I think :)
