ENDGAME - Good ensemble piece!

^ She's Borg, not a witch. I think their romance was Chakotay having a mid-life crisis. "Kathryn gave me the cold shoulder so let's try the young hot ex-drone. Yeah! That will help me feel better about myself! See how I can still get the ladies... Suck on that Kathy!"

To me it looks like it's Seven that selected Chakotay, she even ran a simulation of him on the holodeck beforehand, they weren't even getting along back then.

Poor Reg though. 33 years later and he's only been promoted from Lieutenant to Commander.

Well, did anyone ever see Barclay as a Captain, or an Admiral for that matter? I think Commander probably is his ceiling.

Wasn't there some indication about Seven having feelings for Chakotay earlier in the last season? Even having holographic dinner dates with him? So it's not like it was plucked out of thin air.

Even if it was, in "All Good Things" they did the same thing with Worf and Troi, because outside of the one where he constantly changed universes, I don't remember any romance being suggested between them.

We never saw him on a later date than Endgame, so the question is moot.

Yes, Seven selected Chakotay to be her lover in Human Error. Too bad they didn`t get the chance to build it up in Natural Law. But it`s the writers fault. Jery and Robert asked them about playing the love interest in Natural law and the writers said no.
Although I enjoy the J/C scenes a lot I very like the 7/C romance. They are sooo cut together. And what did Kate Mulgrew say about 7/C? "Sexy meets sexy"!!:)

Kate's self esteem robs her of the realization she has a sexiness about her. Her stubbornness chips away at it. Those two made me crazy for seven years and yet never had sex. I thought the no sex part made the subtext provocative. That's got to count for something.

I know. I was joking:)

hey, you had me going there!;)

Maybe I phrased it wrong. How about: "Did anyone ever envision Barclay as a Captain or an Admiral?" His personality just isn't suited for those positions.

Barclay is an egotistical obnoxious loud pompous ass.

But he can read a room, and is really aware that everything he is going to say is wrong so he suppresses and censors almost every word he creates in his mouth as its coming out, which is what sounds like stuttering.

He's not more confident around holograms, Reginald is just comfortably aware that he cannot alienate or victimize lightbulbs by accident because they have no real feelings.

In short, ordinary people are too weak and callow to cope with his awesomeness, so he has real fears about how they will inevitably strike back at him to assure their own safety if every thought brought forth from his head makes the rest of humanity feel like a 2 inch tall boob.

Oh? You think I might be suffering somewhat from transference? How rude!

P.S.

After 7 years practice, they should have been able to do better than "good".

P.P.S.

Wasn't Barclay the Commandant of Starfleet Academy, which is a rank equivalent to Admiral?

Google isn't sure. Someone needs to find a close up of his collar during his scenes in Endgame.

I believe you have to die at least once to become a captain. Barclay got a giant brain, his arms started glowing violet and he passed out, and finally he got turned into a giant spider but that's not enough to qualify as a captain, you have to do something more, like killing yourself from another timeline or a clone or something. Starfleet promotion is tough!

He's the beacon of hope, the SA community needed

And he didn't vanish into obscurity either (in a cupboard pushing buttons that open very unimportant doors) he's actually still doing quite relevant and challenging work

Everyone else is just too dumb to recognise the point of the holodeck.......you're supposed to get addicted to it, you sterile, sanitised goody two shoes......stop working on that equation to create a cure for human complexity and start programming people to acknowledge your greatness like a normal person would (throw in some lesbians of course)

I shudder to think what the holodeck fantasies of some would contain. That's why it should be kept strictly private and intrusions like the one Garak did, should be impossible. In fact if you need to enter a holodeck for security reasons then the program should stop before letting you enter (which shouldn't take more than a microsecond) so that the privacy of the user would be preserved.

The final episode itself is great; I just think it's dumb that they didn't build up to it. Especially with C/7, which could have been such an interesting relationship.

But as an episode, I love "Endgame." In particular, I love how it subverts the old cliché of, "the future sucks, the heroes much change the timeline to save the world, and just by coincidence, it makes their own lives better too!" I was impressed, even at age 15, that Admiral Janeway was doing this for selfish reasons, and her younger self called her out on her selfishness, and then they consciously worked out a way to turn this into a goodwill mission to save the galaxy from the Borg. They had to earn their happy ending.

My only complaint, besides the lack of build-up in previous episodes, is that the Doctor didn't get much of his own storyline in the finale. Sure he had plenty of screentime, but only serving other characters; we didn't really get a glimpse at what going home would mean for the Doctor, and some resolution of him accepting that he and Seven will only be friends. Oh, and Naomi. The child born and raised in space should have had at least one scene in the episode where they finally get back to Earth!

How in the hell do you even find a thread that's this old?

Easy. It showed up on google when one searches for Voyager specifics and the search box here. I've had to check OP post dates before to avoid thread revival. I found trekBBS by looking for people to answer a Voyager question.
