ENDGAME - Good ensemble piece!

The series really, really, really, really, REALLY wanted to be Star Trek: The Next Generation.

Didn't TNG really want to be TOS. A lot of the first season even looked like it was filmed in the 60's. I seem to recall a lot of ludicrously out of date mini skirts. Didn't they even put men in mini skirts in the pilot

It was better. It had Janeway.

Did Next Generation have Janeway?

NOPE

I would have said different.....in spite of Janeway

But hey, the world don't move to the beat of just one drum, what might be right for me, may not be right for some

TNG Man of the People.

JANEWAY: (a woman) I know it must be my imagination, but it seems as though Lieutenant Pinder just doesn't want me in his section.
TROI: What makes you think that?
JANEWAY: He's so critical. I can't ever do anything to please him and I try, Counsellor, I try to make sure there's nothing he could find fault with.
TROI: Give me an example of what you mean.
JANEWAY: Well, yesterday I was running routine diagnostics on the sensor pallets. They checked out, but Lieutenant Pinder questioned me because I'd allowed a point oh two three variance. That's well within specifications. He goes out of his way to criticise me.
TROI: Do you know of any reason why he might do that?
JANEWAY: No, that's why I'm here.
TROI: Well, maybe he's just tired of hearing you complain.
JANEWAY: Pardon me?
TROI: I know I'm certainly tired of it. How do you think it feels to sit and listen to someone whine about themselves all the time?
JANEWAY: I didn't realise I was
TROI: This isn't Starfleet Academy. You're not going to be coddled. If you can't take it here, then you might think about a transport ship. There's a lot less pressure there.
JANEWAY: But I love being on the Enterprise I don't want to be anywhere else.
TROI: If you aren't up to it then you don't deserve to be here. Isn't that right?
JANEWAY: I guess so.
TROI: So you'd better take a hold of yourself, or be prepared for a transfer.
JANEWAY: I will, Counsellor. Thank you.
TROI: Glad I could help.

The final episode itself is great; I just think it's dumb that they didn't build up to it. Especially with C/7, which could have been such an interesting relationship.

I loved "Endgame." In particular, I love how it subverts the old cliché of, "the future sucks, the heroes much change the timeline to save the world, and just by coincidence, it makes their own lives better too!" I was impressed, even at age 15, that Admiral Janeway was doing this for selfish reasons, and her younger self called her out on her selfishness, and then they consciously worked out a way to turn this into a goodwill mission to save the galaxy from the Borg. They had to earn their happy ending.

My only complaint, besides the lack of build-up in previous episodes, is that the Doctor didn't get much of his own storyline in the finale. Sure he had plenty of screentime, but only serving other characters; we didn't really get a glimpse at what going home would mean for the Doctor, and some resolution of him accepting that he and Seven will only be friends. Oh, and Naomi. The child born and raised in space should have had at least one scene in the episode where they finally get back to Earth!

It is clear Endgame should have been a two parter. There was only so much that could be crabbed into a 60 min segment and i thought the sample of what was to come was exquisite. I was beginning to loose interest in the series in the 6th season. Mulgrew was so desperate to leave the show and play house with her husband and children that it was evident in the show and it did suffer. She was featured very little in around 2 -3 episodes her physical appearance changed drastically , it was hard to see her as this strong woman in command . Ryan was so desperate to take over the show with an episode featuring her in a heroic fight with some big time wrestler. This and the episode which was entirely devoted to Martina Statis from Star Trek Generation completely f!cked me off.Voyager had lost me at this point.

There was nothing like the first four seasons which was when the show was at his best and indeed Mulgrews performances( in particularly the 4th and the 5th season) . It wasnt until the publicity of Endgame air that pulled me back and im glad it did . I absolutely adore that episode. Mulgrew as Admiral OMG!. I wish someone would tell her to stop being a bloody genious - its so bloody annoying:p.

I love the fact there was a kinda closure with Seven (in a weird sort of way). The Chakotay/Seven thing WTF?! .Again that came out of no where.. It is a grave disappointment and loss that Paramount has chosen not to treat us to the full course meal with a second parter.Im a big girl and i need my food- Cheapsakes:scream:.I will have loved to know what has happened with Seven , did she die? . How will Janeway react?.Does she manage to save her from the big black ground below called Chakotay or will it all be a dream like Bobby Ewing when turned up in the shower:guffaw:. What happens to Tuvok ? .

^ You could try reading the post-series novels, Homecoming and The Farther Shore, and the relaunch novels. But keep in mind they are just one person's interpretation of what happens.

Although novels are fantastic to read , i rather prefer an on screen true version. I once read a novel written by Bailey B about what happened after Endgame. His depiction was so moving , so heroic, soooo poignaut.

Novels have a tendency to leave me hungry and yearning to see it on the big screen . I want to see the actors reactions to each other which a novel cannot give you. You have to envision how each character will react, which can be kinda annoying:rolleyes:

Weeeeell, Tuvok (as well as Ichab) is in this fan film, set 10 years after Voyager returns home. I'm really curious what they'll reveal about what's happened in the interim.

Whereas, I think novels allow both the verbal reactions, the physical reactions as well as the inner thoughts of each character - one layer more than is possible on-screen.

To me , it is more forthfilling to watch it on screen , how the actors interact with each other after 10 + years. It will be exciting to see how the issue of 7 dying in the arms of her husband " says in a Janeway shock"

Janeway: "Husband?"
Admiral : "Chakotay!"

Did she really die? If so it will be fantastising to see how Janeway deals with it in that multilayered complexity that only Mulgrew can master with her supreme acting abilities.

Was Tuvoks conditioned restored? being a vulcan and all. Im not big on the in's and outs of the species and all that in depth trekkie knowledge but pardon me on not fully understanding the spock/tuvok thing .

Now the doctor.. Married ?with a young wife?:wtf: help me out here ..Isnt he like ..not real or something? and they have him dating a young bimbo?:wtf:

As for the novels...noooope! they are great for long journeys on the plane. but a big screen and a box of hot buttered popcorn picking fun on how much the actors have aged and how much weight they have put on is a lot more gratifying:p:lol:

If I'm not allowed to say bimbo, you ain't allowed to say bimbo. :)

Tuvok needed a 15 second healing meld before his brain got past a final point of degradation that his brain couldn't come back from.

Admiral Janeway could have brung a Vulcan Doctor with her riding shotgun, but she didn't.

A true trekkie i see;)..

Oh did i say Bimbo? I meant...Fluzzy .. Fluzzy is acceptable right?:)

I though that you were making a clever compound word like slunt, but I do not spell floozy like how you spell floozy.

Or did you mean exactly what you said?

Fluzzy.

Which has four definitons

1. A type a lemur.

2. Fluffy + Fuzzy.

3. Vagina.

4. Cute and adorable.

I will agree with this statement. It would have been nice to have a scene or two with all the main and supporting characters, and end the show on Earth, with the Maquis pardoned, everyone getting a promotion (including Naomi, but excluding Harry ), and Q showing up for a private moment only Janeway can see, telling her, "I knew you could do it, Kathy."

Who is this "Martina Statis"? :vulcan:

( Googles who i referring to ).. Erm..Give me a minute..dun de dun... Ah.. Marina Sirtis thats her.. Mariiiiiiiiina Sirtis. I cant remember what episode it was . I just know within the first ten minutes my eyes began to turn white and all of a sudden my chest expanded followed by a major eruption as the buttons of my shirt flew off. I know at that point i had to change the channel to University Challenge:wtf:.

For me the only good episodes of season 6 was Voyager Conspiracy( a winning episode loveeeeeeee it )& Equinox,

Tsunkaste -for me was the episode which hinted at the idea Voyager was done. It was all about Seven . I had so much of seven ie; episode " One" and my god to have a whole episode more or less dedicated to her trying to be this power woman was a constant bore and left me really disappointed .All that kick ass stuff should be left to the master- Janeway:scream:..

It seemed to me Janeway ..or is it Mulgrew? ;) lol... Mulgrew wanted out so badly that she was like " Ah whatever , make Seven the queen for all i care. I wanna go home sleep for 50 years and bake cakes" Not good...

Im glad she decided give cake baking a little break and come back to knock out her next best ensemble piece as the Admiral.

Q showing up for a private moment only janeway can see, telling her "I knew you could do it , Kathy"
I would rather hear those words by the Admiral. Also it will have been nice to see more of the admiral where she has flashbacks of what happened in her timeline and how it came to the point where she lost her crew . How she lost Seven

The Chakotay/Seven relationship and the out of nowhere Tuvok illness I could have done without. They did not really add much to the story aside from some blatant motivation.

I do wish they had this show about third from the last and give us a better payoff with what happens when they return to Earth. Getting home was something dangling in front of us for seven freak'n years and when they finally do so it is still not happening- the Earth is in the distance and we just see them flying towards it.
