Easter Eggs? (Spoilers)

I heard somewhere that you can hear the words "Cadet Vader" during the Ship-Assignment sequence.

Hmmm, missed that.

However, in the novelization version of that scene (page 81, second line), someone named Korax (Koloth's second in TOS' The Trouble With Tribbles)is being assigned to the Drake.

^^^ I think it's unnecessary and rather inappropriate...you wanna put Trek eggs in...fine and great.....you wanna include a few star wars here and there...OK...but must he but references/eggs in about every project he's ever worked on???

His film, his call.

True. Even Jonathan Frakes allowed STAR WARS Easter Eggs into FC back in 1996, and Spielberg slipped R2-D2 into CLOSE ENCOUNTERS more than thirty years ago.

His movie...his easter eggs.

I've seen more obnoxious and much worse in other films by other directors.

Well .....because I said so!

Because what the hell does Cloverfield have to do with Star Trek besides they were directed by the same person??? It's like enough already and stick to the story instead of inserting a reference to every single thing you've ever worked on in there. Maybe they should of focused more on fixing any plot holes instead of plugging them up with these easter eggs ---- that don't belong in the movie in the first place.

Obviously you have a problem focusing on the important things... most people don't even notice this crap (I didn't the first time I saw the film).

Speaking of focusing on unimportant things: it's 'should have' not fucking 'should of'.
Good god, man! Learn your own language!

Oh, yes, I heard that. I was wondering if some of the onlookers in the bar were old Trek production people or something. Some looked fairly average Joe.

I'm sorry....was I talking to you? Yeah um no.....but thanks for the heads up about should of...I'll be sure to use should of whenever and wherever I can find the opportunity..I may even manufacture opportunities just in your honor.... Oh and Fucking should always be capitalized and nobody gives a Fuck what you're reading by the way!

But let's get this straight bub...I'll focus on whatever the
Fuck I like...take a read around the board and we are all focusing on mostly bullshit -- But I did focus on an important thing...sadly your reading comprehension is obviously lacking so let me repost it for you...now read it nice and slow so you can get it.

Yeah, that sort of referencing of other directors' works / the director's own work / other universes / other genres is pretty much expected and has been since Spielberg, Lucas and that crowd first came along. Forget First Contact; many episodes of TNG were filled with little nods and winks to anime and manga, to M*A*S*H, to Star Wars, to Buckaroo Banzai, to Doctor Who and loads of other things.

See a partial list here.

It's just not new in Trek and wasn't unheard-of even during the late 1960s, when TOS was in its original run; to get upset about it now is kind of pointless and silly.

^ I'd also like to point out that the great Cakes isn't (as far as I know!) a "man."

Thanks Kate! You're like my saner, more mature, better articulated.........and let's face it...better half! :techman:

Oh and I'll send you that check I promised for repeating the "Great Cakes" bit... remember each time it's repeated you'll earn more dividends....
