Recent enough interview with Villeneuve in Time Magazine.

What caught my eye:

From this point, the story unspools to include a psychopathic Harkonnen heir (Austin Butler), a possible future interplanetary princess (Florence Pugh), and an embryo who advises her mother from the womb.

So Alia is confirmed ( couldn't leave her out since they addressed the pregnancy in the first part) but she will apparently follow the book storyline to a degree. I was wondering about the more out there concepts in Dune ever since i saw the first movie and Other Memory was not even hinted at, which plays a big part in Alias' story. The trailers don't even allude to her which worried me even more ( then again cool 'splosions and action make for better draws than cerebral concepts).

So i'm a little more relaxed now and looking forward to how and if Villeneuve will integrate Other Memory into the story because Alia is a central character for the upcoming Messiah movie.

Is this confirmed?

The Messiah movie? No. Villeneuve wants to do it, he's been saying that ever since he started work on the first one, and he has been writing in his own time, but it hasn't started pre-production yet. I expect there will be the typical"Dune Messiah is greenlit!" Press release the day before/weekend of Part 2 's release, but that's the pr fluff every franchise movie gets. Until the B.O. numbers are in we won't know for sure.

It won't be Villeneuve's next movie, he's made that clear. He needs a break. I think Rendezvous with Rama is next.

I'll never understand this "It wasn't in the trailers, it must not be happening!" mentality. They're 2-3 minute ads made from a nearly 3 hour movie to sell a movie to the most possible people. They're not gonna spend the time explaining why a toddler is jumping around talking like an adult and murdering people, and Jessica/Paul/Alia's family tree (which is a twist for people who haven't read the books/seen the other adaptations).

They're gonna show big explosions and worms.

There's been a major casting rumour making the rounds the last couple weeks that has now been confirmed, and the actor has appeared at the London premiere. But it looks like they're still trying to keep it a semi secret as the official releases naming the actor were recalled and the actors name removed so I'm gonna spoiler tag it.

Ana Taylor Joy is playing Alia. It has not been confirmed if it's voice over/future visions.

There have been more rumours that Dune 2 actually jumps forward in time to show Ana as Alia so that the movie has some of the repercussions following Paul's ascension and not end on the "high" note, but a dark one to lead into Messiah. I've only came across them by accident, I've avoided finding out if they're true or not.

Oh man I forgot about this and all the decent IMAX seats sold out - there is a Lie-max by me but I'm not paying for that...

Fascinating. I do love that actor so it's fantastic they're in it, in whatever form.

FYI, they spell their name with a "Y."

Well now the movie accounts are tweeting about the actor being in the movie but calling the actors character, a surprise character important to the franchise, and news publications are following that lead.

There's also another woman in the London cast photos I don't recognize and don't see listed anywhere. Right in the middle, between Zendaya and Ferguson.

Edit: Never mind, just saw it is Souheila Yacoub playing the new character

I'm watching Lynch's dune while working on my first ornithopter and it adds SO MUCH knowing that the Barons doctor is Scytale. He just went on a monologue about how beautiful the Barons diseases are
