Dune Part 2 2023 (24, 25, 26...)

AI gore? Trying to put more artists out of work, are you? Well, Hulu is owned by Disney, so it would make sense of they used more AI.

Fuckin' A!

- Gurney and Paul meet again :adore:
- Christoper Walken
- Gladiator Arena
- Rabban and Gurney squaring off and settling scores!!
- "I am Paul Muad'dib Atreides, Duke of Arrakis!!!" *chills*
- "He who can destroy a thing has control over it" Yeah Baby!

Man, November can't come soon enough.

Thought it was kind of odd to just show the reunion between Paul and Gurney like that.... Felt weird. Took the emotion out of it somehow.
Still psyched A/F though!!

They showed a lot of major story beats. The reunion. Possibly the water of life. The shield wall atomic. The fight in the throne room. The gladiator fight. Paul threatening to destroy the spice. Paul's arrival at Cave of Birds/Sietch Tabr (if they merge the two). The Emperor. Irulan.

Exactly. So much of what I consider to be the final quarter of the novel. Feels weird getting so much in the trailer.

Nothing new unfortunately. Trailers give away the endings all the time.

In this case, a big chunk of the audience already knows what's coming and wants to see those moments, so give them a glimpse to know they're there so they buy tickets to see their fav moment.

In the case of Gurney, everyone already knows he lives, no point hiding it.

The gladiator scene will either be right at the start introducing Feyd or halfway through, so not an ending spoiler.

And for anyone who doesn't know the book they don't know they're being spoiled with the big end moments, and the big end moments are what sells the movie visually

Damned if you do (show spoilers) damned if you don't (because then all you have are low key moments from the start of the movie).

Interesting. I think it's a decent trailer for those who don't know the book. My dad was gut punched by Idaho's death so I think showing Gurney and other characters from part 1 are still alive is a smart marketing choice.

Works well enough. Big brash spectacle. Should satisfy some. Expected the "Long live the fighters!" line and got it.

New Trailer. Shows a lot.

That trailer was amazing, and got even more pumped for this movie than I already was.
Did Paul and The Emperor ever meet face to face in the book? I recognized and remembered a lot of the big story beats in the trailer from the book, but I don't remember those two ever actually being in the same room in the book.

They meet at the end just before Paul has his faceoff with Feyd-Rautha.

The trailer gives away so much, though, including the use of atomics to bring down the Shield Wall. No sign of Alia, but I expect she will appear in this part.

They only meet in the finale and don't exchange many words, they certainly don't have a heart to heart or that the Emperor goads Paul, this is strictly for the movie. We don't have context here but i guess it's something Villeneuve added for drama purposes.

Yes but to a non-reader it is just a huge ass explosion with no context given (great visual though with Paul in the front, flowing robe and all), so it's not a story spoiler in itself.

After a night's sleep some additional thoughts

- still no Alia
- did Paul use The Voice (tm) when he addresses the Fremen fighters?
- Stilgar becoming a true believer in Paul ( that is an arc i will love to see unfold, Javier Bardem is such a tremendous actor)

Still rooting for a Jamis' burial scene and hopefully the appearance of the Fedaykin ( even more elite Fremen fighters! :techman:) and still not even the slightest hint of Other Memory. I get the feeling it won't appear at all in the movies, don't know how i feel about it if true.

The trailer is itself a prescient vision of things to come. However, without context, I agree it's not really a spoiler. Did any other adaptation include mention of other memory? I don't recall... :shifty:
