Dune Part 2 2023 (24, 25, 26...)

Dune is on Amazon Prime, at least here in Germany.

Watching it again for the xth time - Reverend Mother Mohiam just flew down to Caladan to meet Paul. The accompanying foreboding music, the art design - it gave me chills. This movie is so perfect in all aspects.

I can't wait to see the conclusion later this year and be blown away again.

Same here, only I brought the video off of the Microsoft store online and have been seeing the movie on my Xbox One. I've been thinking about buying the movie as a physical Blu-Ray copy.

First footage revealed today at CinemaCon. Paul rides the worm! Hopefully a trailer soon.

Edit:. Well, they just released The Flash trailer from earlier today so maybe we'll get this one too!

They damn well better! The film comes out in seven months! Time to ramp things up!!!

Also...I'm really relieved your parenthetical didn't come true again with this thread.

I think the panel is still going on I've been refreshing the twitter hashtag and it keeps coming up with new pics and statements. Maybe after it ends. Flash trailer just went on YouTube.

Link to Variety's breakdown:

Edit:. The worm for the riding sequences is a practical effect

Depends on the strategy. For awhile nearly every major movie had teasers and trailers a year+ out. For Dune they seem to think loading all the marketing closer to release is the better play vs long-term hype. The first movie they did the same, except the covid delays kept pushing the release date so it still ended up being more than a year between trailer and movie

There seems to be a smaller window between release of the trailer and release of the movie since the pandemic. Probably because of the movies which were originally planned to have a 2020 release being postponed and needing their promotional plans redone, which cost studios money. Now they're going for a shorter promotional period, thus spending less money.

Partially yeah. I think in general it's a trend related to cost benefits. They dragged out longer and longer marketing campaigns, spending big cash (occasionally for products that never saw the light of day, ie. all the shared universes that were scrapped in the 2010's) and found they went too far out and weren't getting additional returns.

There was an article I read at one point about how people started to forget about movies playing that game and were like "Oh, huh, I thought that already came out. Meh, whatever, I don't care anymore, I'll wait to watch it on Netflix/rental". Now they're scaling back for less long term hype, more short term awareness.

Can't wait to hear Paul being called Muad'Dib for the first time onscreen :)

Just watched an hourlong Behind the Scenes of Dune Part 1 on Youtube and it is amazing how much detail went into the movie and how hyped the crew was. I got the same vibe from the Lord of the Rings trilogy and when people are really convinced of their project it becomes more than a 9 to 5 job.

Let's see if i can be the first to see it in the movies like the first one since Germany was amongst the first with an official release

Fantastic article. Doesn't give away much of the details but manages to describe the essence of what to expect for all of the characters, the new and old. I cannot wait for this film!

I'm a little surprised they revealed Gurney still alive this early, and via a vanity fair article. I thought they might keep that as a surprise for the trailer for those who haven't read the book, when they made it look like probably died in the movie.

Right, i forgot about that perspective since I already knew he would be alive.

I guess they just figured the general public doesn't read Vanity Fair. ;)

Or they are used to the trope "No Body No Death" ( as opposed to Duncan who we actually see die).

Very nice pictures, now let's wait for the first trailer.

Side Note: I too agree it looks like Feyd's Gladiator scene - would be cool to have the fight choreographer be the Atreides Elite soldier to fight Feyd, he was in a few scenes in the background as an extra in the first movie. He and his team trained the actors very well but i'd like to see a Pro let loose on screen ;)
