Not quite. Apostle corrected me by pointing out that his girlfriend believed that any falling-out with God would be due to one's faith not being "real" in the first place.

No matter which side of that fence you fall on, doesn't it come down to God being the one to decide if a person is saved or damned? Whether a person thinks they are saved or are unsure of their current status, the lifestyle to strive for remains the same. No matter if that's the real cause of the breakup or not, it's not a fun situation, and I hope both of you come through it okay.

Personal question, feel free to ignore, but why precisely is this such an important argument? OK, it's an interesting theological point, which I know a lot of Christians differ on. I've had debates about it with my gf, but it hasn't reached the point of a personal disagreement. You say you're both Christian, so why would a difference on this theological point actually affect anything? Is it a friend/relative whose fate you disagree on?
