I'm rewatching the Dominion War saga, which means I'm cherrypicking episodes from Seasons 2-5 and then watching most of Seasons 6 and 7. I've also been recording a short synopsis of these episodes and giving them a rating on a 10 scale.
Anyways, I'm midway through Season 6 right now and I've really enjoyed it so far....but I had forgotten how much I liked the interaction between Dukat and Weyoun.
Their contentious relationship is so well written and well played....there's an on-screen charisma between the two characters and it makes it really enjoyable to see the Dominion side of the saga unfold all over again.
They're both sneaky, opportunistic, highly intelligent, and malicious. But neither are one-dimensional villains and depending on the circumstance, they often go about the same goal in very different ways. We get to learn more about their stories and personalities as the series progresses. The Vorta are a great concept and its effectively executed through Weyoun, while Dukat is the personification of the Cardassian dark side. The differences in their allegiances --one to the Founders/life mission and one to species/family --adds another layer to the relationship. They seem as comfortable settling their disputes through direct threats/demands or back-handed compliments....which gives both villains a humorous side and allows them to develop a sort of sibling rivalry while they're in control of DS9.
I'll go back to watching it now (just finished "Sacrifice of Angels") but I wanted to share how much I've enjoyed the Dukat-Weyoun relationship all over again.
