Usually reviews start appearing about a week before the official sale date, so let's get this going.

I've been looking forward to this one since the day it was announced; seems like a GREAT idea for a Christopher novel. Can't wait to see how this turns out!

I know I will definitely be downloading this to my Nook first thing on the 26th.

^ The last time I tried to preorder an Ebook, it didn't work, so I'll wait till release date this time.

Re: Star Trek: DTI: Watching The Clock Review Thread

I received my paper copy today from amazon.ca.

Re: Star Trek: DTI: Watching The Clock Review Thread

Have you started it yet?

Re: Star Trek: DTI: Watching The Clock Review Thread

Yes. It's good. It's very good. It's CLB at his best.

Re: Star Trek: DTI: Watching The Clock Review Thread

Sweet! The 26th can't come soon enough. I just realized Doctor Who also premiers that night, so we'll be getting lots of time travel goodness that day.

Does it? From every single source I've read, it's premièring on BBC One here, BBC America in America and Space in Canada this Saturday evening, which is the 23rd April. Of course, if you want to wait till the Tuesday, you'll be a tad late for the party and kicking yourself.

oh and on the DTI front, are there any prefer chapters about?

If you mean preview chapters, I'm not aware of any online, but there's a brief excerpt in the current issue of Star Trek Magazine.

Mr. Bennett, that was an incredible work of fiction. It was you at your best, Star Trek at its best and a very good book.

In my opinion this book was Destiny-Awesome.

^ High praise indeed! But I'll believe it :) Can't wait until next Tuesday, when it Kindles.

Wow, thanks! I never expected that level of praise.

Re: Star Trek: DTI: Watching The Clock Review Thread

Well, like Destiny you managed to deliver a hard sci-fi story (by Trek standards, edging out Destiny with catoms and relativity by several orders), excellent characterization and great yarn of a plot.

I don't want to post spoilers yet lest the thread jump on me but there are some great comic moments in there.

In terms of style it seems very much an evolution of your style in The Buried Age, better this time with experience and a freer hand to not have to neatly bundle everything up at the end. Several character choices seem similar to The Buried Age, you seem to have a preference with the styles of aliens you create. Similar choices manifest themselves.

You're right, my bad. But it's still a good 2 weeks though.

Agreed. He built an engaging story out of a very complex setting. Nice characters (the Lucsly and Dulmur pairing was fun), nice exploration of other civilizations, nice development of time travel, nice everything!

What's two weeks away? Doctor Who premiers on Saturday in the locations I said, plus I think Ireland and a few other places. Watching the Clock is out on the Kindle next Tuesday, less than one week away.

If you're saying they are on seperate weeks though, as they both fall within the same week, you'd be incorrect again.

Next week will be a good week though, not for the reasons you stated though.

It's a review thread, spoilers are expected in here. If you really don't want to spoil people, just put them under the tags :rommie:

Re: Star Trek: DTI: Watching The Clock Review Thread

Yeah, I was thinking Saturday is the end of this week, so Tuesday would be next.

Yet they still fall with in the same seven days and thus fall in the same week.
