I’m pretty sure the time suit/crystal will be forgotten almost immediately, so DSC can get on with its second retooling as a show.

Something subtle that was pointed out by a friend of mine that I hadn't seen mentioned anywhere else was that the guards on Boreth had new bat'leths. They had the same styling as the other Discovery-era Klingon bladed weapons, but the shape was all-new. I don't mind, as such, I thought it was weird that all bat'leths look the same, and I think it's even weirder now that we've had, like, four canon types, but we only see one style at a time.

Probably closer to each half-season, honestly.

There hasn't even been a first reboot yet, how can there be a second?

    You're a retool!

That isn't directed at anyone. I just wanted to say it. :D

Most Trek series last 7 seasons, and we've had 2 for DSC. Which leaves 5, and some are suggesting that the show will be like, and may even be an homage to, Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda from this point forward. I'm mostly down with that, but I hope like hell that doesn't mean the 7th season will be like the 5th season of Andromeda! :shudder: ;)

First of all, I'd like to "thank" you for taking time to "correct" my posts recently (incorrectly, each time), but secondly, I *considered* what you're getting at, and said exactly what I meant. We can't include Discovery, because it hasn't ended, so that leaves TOS, TNG, DS9, VOY, and ENT. Out of those five series, MOST of them lasted 7 seasons. Which is what I believe I said. I said nothing about averages.

Anyway, back to tech - even if Burnham does go to Boreth and nick a new crystal, it still needs charging. Unless that's why they were slow charging the first crystal with Po's tech/Spore Drive (i.e. there was a second crystal hijacking some of the feed)?

They have something of an overabundance of tech supergeniuses aboard; if they already McGyvered one crystal recharging method outside the original specs, they might well manage another. Even without Po.

Then again, the writers did a decent job in establishing that Po's very special genius was elemental in getting the suit working. It might suffice for excusing the loss of time travel ability. But supposedly they will continue to have access to Gabrielle Burnham's original research (probably including the woman herself), and can go visit all the supernovae they wish since they have the spore drive, too.

Two routes to go, really. Discovery could become a super-Voyager, utterly self-sufficient and roaming the universe at will. Or then the banishment to low-tech future and the need to hide from evil AIs means they will become castaways, constantly starved of technology like Voyager never was. It probably takes much more effort to write the latter story than the former - and Fuller's original idea no doubt was close to the former, and so far there's no pressing need to abandon that.

I still can't get around the fact that there are time crystals in the opening credits of "Vulcan Hello" already...

    TAS is a thing.

    3 + 2 + 7 + 7 + 7 + 4 = 30
    30 / 6 = 5

And three out of six series is half, not most (which, by definition, is at least more than half). Only half of all Star Trek series last seven seasons. Most last only four seasons or more.

So, you're both wrong, and I corrected everybody.

    You're welcome.
