DS9's Worst Episodes

For me, worst episode would probably be Valiant I simply DETESTED the characters, and found the whole concept ludicrous from start to finish.

That about sums up how I feel about it. I know and respect how everyone has their own personal tastes, but that's one episode that I just can't wrap my brain around how anyone could think it was good (kind of like how most would wonder how I could think The Neutral Zone is good).

If those Red Squad cadets are the best Starfleet has to offer, then Earth is in a shitload of trouble from that point forward.

-If Wishes Were Horses
-Let He Who Is Without Sin

True. At least Jake came out smelling like a rose. The problem with Valiant is it was Lord of the Flies on a spaceship.

The episode with Kurn, and EVERY SINGLE Ferengi episode from the entire series.

Since we have a best episode thread, I thought we should have a worst one as well. Now I love me some DS9 but even the best shows have episodes that are stinkers overall, even if there are some good elements in there. Here's some of my pics:

"Move Along Home" where the senior crew gets stuck playing that alien game ... "Ella Marane ..." Auuugh!

"The Muse": I actually enjoyed the B plot with Lwaxana and Odo, but Jake's stuff was laaaame.

Any episode with Vic Fontaine. I was rooting for Odo/Kira, and then in the ep where they finally get together, they had to totally ruin it for me by sticking the world's most annoying hologram in there! Auuugh!

“Emissary” is eminently bad.

The segment with the mentally-backward wormhole aliens destroys it, as do the repulsive over-lighting, and the truly revolting colour scheme. The baseball sequence, though far less interesting than watching paint dry, was (sort of) forgivable, since the Federation is basically the USA in space. Baseball is as alien to this poster as kadis-kot would be. But kadis-kot looks a lot more interesting. Do wormhole aliens really want to learn baseball ? Having Sisko be bumped up to something like Messiahdom in the very first episode is horrible pacing.
Good things:

O’Brien
Odo
Dax
the Ferengi
and, of course, J-LP himself. Almost any sequence with Picard, however horrible otherwise, is better for having him in it; though even he cannot save segments from being garbage if they use the holodReck.
