DS9 = WORST Star Trek Series EVER

after so many polite rebuttals and the lack of coherent evidince to support the OP, at what point does everyone just stop posting and hope he'll go away?

is it worth a try? :D

I'm sure most people who have posted in this thread are fully prepared to engage in debate about direct critisims of DSN.

Do you think it had poor characterisation?
Do you think it was inconsistant?
Do you think it weakend a villan?

Not that any of those occured that often.

As for the Borg question and did VOY weaken them as a Villian, I think they probably did. Does that mean all Borg stories in VOY were bad no of course not.

To perhaps draw a parallel, the Dalek's in DW have suffered similar critism is that they are over used and have diminished somewhat as a threa. This view point is not without it merits and as such shouldn't be discarded. But I will say this the main protangist in DW is a member of the oldest most powerful race in the Universe. So in a sense a greater power than the Dalek's. Whilst the Borg are superior to the Federation.

So it is easier to explain away a more powerful being defeating a race of slightly less power than the other way around. The Borg should have barely been seen after "The Gift". I could argue that they were kept around for important things like 'the sweeps' i.e a ratings stunt.

Let me go find the "Voyager = WORST Star Trek Series EVER" thread posted by an often intolerant, dismissive and rude DS9 fan within the Voyager forum...

(3 minutes later...)

Huh. I can't seem to find it. Weird. Maybe you can find and post a link to it?

Because, I can find no evidence that DS9 fans are so intolerant, dismissive, or rude as to post such a thread in the Voyager forum. Sure, some of them post their (sometimes controversial) opinions in various pre-existing threads, but I don't see the levels of intolerance and ignorance that you are accusing DS9 fans of. You are however simultaneously heavily exhibiting them yourself.

I'm a DS9 fan who doesn't like Voyager and I hate Enterprise but I'm not going to start a thread like this about them. Threads like this just get fans of which ever Trek series stirred up...and NOT in a good way. More like stirred up like a horde of angry :klingon:s. I, personally, don't want to tangle with a horde of angry :klingon:s. Now, expressing your opinion/feelings about a Trek series in a quiet, polite way like I tried to do in this post with Voyager and Enterprise is one thing but expressing it by making it a thread title and a thread is too much. This thread seems, to me, like an attempt to draw out the DS9 bashers. Everyone here probably has a series or movie they feel is the worst and that's their right. But to start a bash thread, which is what I think this thread is, is too much.
Now if all of you will excuse me, :borg: I'm going to go assimilate with my fellow DS9 fans.

It is the only Star Trek series that I turned off during the pilot episode because it was so awful. I never watched the series after that. I have only seen a handful of DS9 episodes

So from 7 years you watched what 0.25 and make the claim its the worst

I guess all of you proved my point. No response at all to me giving Enterprise & your vaunted DS9 a second chance.

We already know you are giving DS9 a second chance, you said that in your opening post and people have responded to that. Once you start talking about specific episodes, events, and characters people will be better able to respond. At the moment you're complaining about having to repeat yourself, which is bound to happen because you're not really advancing the discussion.

The "Good Ol' Boys Club" here on the Trek BBS only is interested in attacking. It is very telling how that post was totally skipped over so that the Good Ol' Boys Club" network here on the Trek BBS could continue the attacks.
Wait, there's a "Good Ol' Boys Club"? Where do I join? More importantly is there a secret handshake?

That is why I have been giving DS9 the chance I never gave it by watching it on Netflix. I have started this previously in this post, but no on seems to have taken notice of that. So far it has yet to engage me, but that likely could change, and I actually fully expect that change. I have found that where Trek is involved in regards to myself that resistance is futile.
The problem you have is that there's no reason for anyone to believe you when you say that you're giving the show a fair chance. Respect doesn't necessarily have to be earned, but it can be lost, and your actions in this thread have certainly expended whatever modicum of respect we would normally have been willing to afford you. If you want our respect now then you'll have to earn it back.

If you had started this thread explaining that you were a Star Trek fan that was trying to get into DS9 but you were finding the first season a bit crap, you would have found a far better reception among fans, because every Niner I've ever met has been willing to admit that the first season contains a substantial quantity of crap. But you didn't do that, you came in here bashing the whole show, including events in the later seasons that it was clear you didn't understand properly. Some of your criticisms were utterly senseless and could easily be applied to your own favourite show, Voyager. Other criticisms were far too broad and consisted of comments like "it's boring" and "the station doesn't go anywhere".

If somebody chose to come into this forum and write up a detailed critical analysis of what they thought was wrong with DS9 I would have no problem with that, it might even lead to an interesting conversation or two. You have so far failed to demonstrate that you are a person capable of writing such an interesting, insightful critique.

Prove me wrong.

We have been over this all before. I have nothing that I need to prove to you or anyone else for that matter.

I personally don't care what you think. If people like DS9 then fine. Your doubts about me stating that is how I feel are completely & totally irrelevant to me.

Voyager does take a beating around these parts, it's fair to say. Probably more than it deserves.
Thank you! Finally some honesty is being acknowledged about how Voyager & its fan are treated on here.

I am moving on now from this thread. I have accomplished my goal. Nice to see that some people have finally seen the light, and realized why I started this thread.

This thread got way long way fast. I'm not going to bother to read it all... :rommie:

In the first season, watch Emissary, Battle Lines, Duet and In the Hands of the Prophets. If you still think DS9 stinks, stop watching. It's not for you.

See how simple that was? No need for a frakking 11 page thread on the topic.

You might want to read the rest of that post you quoted.

You haven't accomplished anything but losing respect for yourself. You're just lucky that most of us (unlike you) won't generalize against Voyager fans based on the childish attitude of one individual.

Exactly. I find large portions of every series other than DS9 to be unwatchable but can even get through some of the worst 1st and 2nd season episodes of DS9 without problems. I am probably more of a Niner than I am a Trekkie and probably even one of the strongest DS9-only types on the forum.

But you know why I don't have a bad rap for that? You do NOT see me going into the other sections of the forum and flamebaiting. Unlike some people here, I can respect that others have different tastes and I see no need to get into an argument over something that is more often a matter of personal preference than any kind of objective standard. I know what I like and what I want, and I am confident enough in it that I do not have to get belligerent over it.

So THAT was the point? You wanted someone that liked DS9 to say VOY wasn't all that bad? Really? I thought your point was to start a flame war, which you did. Now just admit that you're Braga.

To quote the chronic self-quoter:

Nice editing job you did there Sparky!

Pot, meet kettle.
