Maybe this guy has got it right. If all of us use the power of affirmation, and intone loudly 100 times every day "DS9 will be on Blu-Ray someday" thus bending the forces of causality to our will, then it might happen.
Just another day in paradise.welcome to hell, @Savage Dragon
I don't see how doing that could be any worse than is doing the opposite (as many do): insisting that most people don't know about and/or don't care about DS9, therefore putting DS9 on BluRay will never be profitable, therefore putting DS9 on BluRay will never be done.
Maybe those negative affirmations are what will prevent it from happening? The law of attraction gurus to whom you are alluding would certainly say so.
And CBS employees who read fan feedback on boards like this will think so too. If this kind of negative consensus against putting DS9 on BluRay keeps up, then CBS employees who have the power to make DS9 on BluRay happen will be led to the opinion: "Even the fans of DS9 don't think we should ever put DS9 on BluRay. They must be right. Let's not."
They pay people to crunch numbers to figure out the profitability of any give project. They don't give two shits about this board.
Even though it makes my eyes bleed to watch DS9 in standard def on a 4K TV, it's still the best show in the series. My wife and I joke that the tech to port DS9 into high def will eventually become so cheap relative to prevailing methods that some enterprising fan will take it upon herself to do it.
I still say that if we want DS9 blu ray to happen sooner, we fans should work to recreate all the space battles/space ship shots in HD CGI. That way all that work is done and it is one less hurdle for CBS. I have seen some nice fan-made CGI footage that would certainly fit the bill.
