DS9 on blu ray?

There are other companies other than Fox who release their series; King of the Hill seasons seven onwards have been released recently, ages after the original first six.

Question will be, does licensing makes it worthwhile? The licensing rights to release King of the Hill on DVD are probably miniscule compared to the cost Fox would charge for The Simpsons.

No more Simpsons DVDs from FOX

And that includes BluRays as well.

There's always iTunes. It has the show up until at least season 23, and in HD to boot.

I'm more of a tangible medium collector.

I also prefer physical media.

I wonder about the picture quality of iTunes video, even though it is in HD resolution.

I purchased the HD download of X-Men: DOFP through iTunes, and when watched it on my TV via HDMI, and noticed a lot of banding. Is that an issue with the encoding, or with my video card?

iTunes looks fine to me. No banding or anything like that.

Doh!

Okay, I'll just see what I need to do to make my DVD set last forever. Truth is, to me Blue Ray does look better than DVD, but not all that much better for shows made for TV anyway.

Some shows were either shot or completed on videotape. So the resolution can never go above 480. The three 24th century shows were finished on videotape. TNG in HD was recomposited from the original film elements and it shows.

And you especially notice the difference with the occasional shot where they couldn't find the film elements for whatever reason and were stuck using the videotape instead.

^Do you ever. I just watched Samaritan Snare from Season 2 and there is a good 15 seconds of SD footage and it is really jarring.

And a lot of SD shows I've watched on iTunes have been horrible in quality, as the deinterlacing wasn't done correctly, so you are actually watching a 240p video that your HD TV is upscaling to 720 or 1080p as the H.264/MP4 codec for non-Blu-Ray/broadcasting is not designed to handle interlace video.

But even HD downloads at 1080p only look as good as 720p on Blu-Ray.

Have any of the DS9 writers (Ira Behr, Ron Moore, Rene Echevarria etc) ever commented on DS9-R? You would think they still have some influence from working on the series.
