DS9 Oddities...

I guess an oddity that has knawed at me is that in the Dominion War where the AQ is fighting for its very existence the Feds diligently refuse to use cloaks -- even when the Romulans are their open allies.
Did the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq allow all NATO members and allies of the US and UK develop nuclear arms?
 
Also it was established that the Dominion was apparently able to, to at least some degree, penetrate cloaking fields in any case.
 
Yes, before each captain takes command of his ship he goes through a catalog of material samples and picks out his choices.

Picard: "Ooh, mahogany and beige leather. Check."

That's why kirk missed his old chair. Though he went for black leather. Hides the stains I guess.

Yeah, you never see Romulan warbirds decloaking in battle. What would be the advantage anyway? You're vulnerable for the second it takes to decloak and raise shields. It's only really useful for hit and run attacks with the element of surprise, which the Klingons do in Once More Unto The Breach.
