I'm finding that the book, especially the 2386 portion, is reusing a plot device from
When The Bough Breaks
, plus it reused a second plot device from
Clues
.

Woke up to it being downloaded onto my Ipad. will start reading it during my lunch break.

I’m reading Kasidy Yates/Sisko but my mind’s eye projects Dr. Claire Finn. :rommie:

I just listened to an audio clip of a chapter of Original sin. I can't wait to read this book when I finally have some free time to start reading it soon.

Has this been pushed back a week? Bol.com suddenly lists october 2nd as the release date.

Was going to flip a coin between Original Sin and Desperate Hours, but I think I might just read both at the same time. Anyway, started reading Original Sin, and I don't know how many others are experiencing this, but I'm having a super hard time remembering DS9's timeline of events what with so many books jumping back and forth after the time jump. I'm even having a hard time placing things pre/post Nemesis or Destiny at this point, lol.

There's an anachronistic reference to the Typhon Pact on one occasion - could Pocket Books maybe amend the reference in the eBook to the Tzenkethi or the Breen etc instead?

I found my balance after I read the Memory Beta article on the USS Robinson.

I enjoyed it but didn't love it.

Although after the time jump I was interested in what had happened during that period it's been so long now since it happened it feels like the books really need to move forward. So until the twist ending which tied into the modern day story line that part of the book felt a bit plodding.

The modern day storyline was pretty strong with an interesting new alien and new threat in null space. At one point it looked like it was going to be one of those storylines that the books do quite often with the crew figuring out how to communicate and negotiate with these aliens and everyone going away happy so it was refreshing to see it end in a completely different way. Also that none of the crew seemed that fussed about it - sometimes the books have the crew go to enormous and unrealistic risks to find a peaceful way out and agonise about it all the way - nothing like that here!

My main issue was that other than Sisko & Kassidy there are no particularly compelling characters on the Robinson so far. For this book they mainly functioned as supporting cast so it wasn't a huge problem and to be honest I'd rather future books focused on fleshing out the badly neglected DS9 cast than yet another ship.

Not a bad book by any means but, revelations about Rebecca aside, not a particularly essential one either.

Well this sucks....

According to bol.com, a problem at the publisher ment they only just managed to get Original Sin out for US distribution, but not for global. So I have to wait a week longer....

Does anyone remember offhand how Sisko looks these days? I remember him going back to hair and clean shaven face during the Typhon Pact books. Is he still sporting the early DS9 look now, or was it just his 'Im sad' look?
