DS9 BOOK NEWS

Congratulations on the new arrivals. I'm glad to hear that everybody is doing well. Best of luck to the families. I'm sure Unity will be worth the wait.

Prophacy & Change & Worlds of Deep Space Nine sound great! Can't wait to read them.

Two babies stop the writing of a book that partly deals with the birth of a baby...interesting...I think I can almost smell the Prophets involved!

Congratulations to everyone involved in regard to the babies! Sounds like you're all going to have your hands full in the coming months!

I'm looking forward to all the new DS9 projects in the works, because, in addition to the fact that I love DS9, I've quite honestly never read a book that Marco has edited that I haven't liked. It's to the point where I even buy books that don't seem that interesting to me based on their descriptions simply because I know he's editing them! So I'm excited...

However, I am a little disappointed to see no books that seem to *directly* continue the DS9 saga past Unity. By which I mean, books set on the station or the Defiant featuring the entire cast of characters. Are any of those in the works? Or will we have to wait until 2005 or beyond?

You're making assumptions on Worlds of DS9 based on facts not in evidence. :D

^ I hate it when he does that.

:p

Feel free to keep doing it, though. It makes life interesting!

I'm sorry to have to report that UNITY is being delayed again. The truth is, quite simply, that it isn't finished yet, and it won't be ready to publish in April as the author and I had hoped back when I announced the first postponement. Instead, it will publish in November, 2003

Why does The Last Dangerous Visions suddenly come to mind?

Just kidding. At least, I hope I am. ;)

I understand the need for the delay (and congrats on the additions), but I'm still a little disappointed. I'm glad I didn't throw out my copies of Rising Son and Lesser Evil. I may need to refresh my memory before reading Unity.

Throw out? You throw your books away?

!!! Are you kidding? Sell them to a used bookstore! Sell them on Half.com!

That's a lot of wasted money there -- and pretty good books that could be passed on to others....

Or, hell -- send them to me for free :D

Keith R.A. Decandido (DS9: Demons of Air and Darkness)

Congratulations to all the other contributors to P&C, all of whose last names were actually spelled right by the editor, Mr. Palmeiri.

November ?

November ???

You mean as in the month before...December? :(

NOVEMBER ?!?!?

Are you mad? Are you simply cruel? What in the Prophets can I have done to deserve this? Where did I go wrong? How in the universe can you expect me to wait until November?!?

Oh, well. Fortunately I just read Abyss so I'm behind everyone else. By the time I get through the other books November won't nearly be that far away. :D

But don't think I'm not mad at ya, Marco.

I mean where are your priorities? ;)

By the way, Marco, with the long delay is there any chance of convincing Pocket Books/S&S to put together an audio addition of the book as well? It would go a long way in helping fans like me to forgive and forget. :)

If that means what I think it means, it's very good to hear. :-)

On an unrelated topic, how are the GKN books coming, Keith? Is there anything more that you can share with us? Vague plot hints, the name of the new first officer, Leskit's return? :-) I have to say that if I were a 24th century Klingon, I'd be *very* hesistant to accept a job as first officer on that ship! It doesn't seem to be doing a lot for people's military careers! :-)
