Don't suppose there's a chance season two will be a visual re-reboot.

If you're referring to visual effects I highly doubt it. People are going to have to deal with this. It's not going back to Old-style Trek CG or models. I get it. I hate lens flare too, but it's not going to change back.

If you're referring to the interior design of the ship, or uniform styles, or physical props I'm guessing these WILL change down the line, when the show gets closer to TOS. And I kinda welcome that.

In what sense? To look like something more closer to the 60s TOS? Nope. Not going to happen at all. A push toward that looks like something closer to TOS movie era? In time I think that's where they're going and I think we're already there in some cases but its never going to be 1 for 1. The visual look they're going for is pretty clear to me. Enterprise into Discovery and then into The Motion Picture/Wrath of Khan with 60s TOS visuals being retconned out but not the events and characters in order to make the use of this era more viable going forward. That's why the Enterprise itself looks closer to the refit in TMP. A refit shouldn't structurally change how a ship looks to the degree it does from TOS to TMP. So just making the TOS era ship look closer to the TMP version and say that's how it always should have looked as a retcon makes sense. I think even when we see the TOS era uniforms they won't look the same either but are going to look updated as well. I am curious though when those uniforms start to filter out to everyone else. Will we see a mix of them on the Discovery at some point with maybe the main cast in the new uniforms with background characters still in the blue as it would take a long time for something like that to filter down. It does today and we see in other shows there does end up being a mix at times.

I think people need to prepare themselves now and accept we are not going to get a recreation of the 60s TOS bridge or hallways. They'll stay close where they can in the same way they have with Discovery in how they've kept items, designed the briefing room to look similar to the one in the Cage, etc. I will bet even if the Enterprise itself is only in for an episode or two or maybe three we're going to see more or another Constitution class ships going forward in this series. I think this is part of why they in the end introduced the Enterprise. They're going have to encounter those class of ships at some point. So there was need for a long term investment that the other shows did not need. That's why they could do the fan service one offs.

I see a uniform update coming based on the finale where Burnham gave her speech and there were two different uniforms in play. Underneath the jacket can be shirt in either cage or TOS colors with a turtleneck. It can be retconned by saying each captain has discretion as to whether to require the jacket be worn on duty and the new captain does not require it.

I see a sets update for the conference room was shown for the first time in episode 14. In all 23-24th century Trek, the conference room is an important room for the senior staff to do mission planning.

And a sets update for engineering and/or spore lab as it moves from a science experiment to a useful and widespread tool.

I think it'll be the same situation as before they introduced the FC uniforms where they had TNG and DS9 uniforms at the same time.

Toward the end of "Will You Take My Hand?", when the crew is earning their medals, the blurring of the background to mask what everyone was wearing was a stroke of genius. Hinting at what's there without revealing their entire hand to leave them room for next season.

I have a feeling that the "because it sucks now" crowd won't be happy with any reasonable design changes.

Are we talking an un-boot, like gatekeepers keep hoping for the JJ films? There's just no decent justification for it. Sure, it might get tweaked a little. But no.

Those very well could be cadet uniforms guys.
or holdovers from the fuller days.

but i'd actually love if they wore those alongside the standard discovery uniforms. more like the intermingling of the more formal TNG tunics and casual DS9 coveralls in early DS9 and star trek generations. and a visual evolution towards the TOS look without getting hokey.
