Donny's Refit Enterprise Interiors (Version 2.0)

I like some aspects of 1701-A which was a new Enterprise and it was designed as an architype for TNG interior look, a series I admire as much as TOS. I know Donny really REALLY loved Nick Meyer's interpretation of the ship in TUC but for me I thought it was ridiculous; and contradicted the new aesthetics from TFF. Like TWOK where many fans love the aesthetics like those impractical very non-trek looking Monster Maroon uniforms, its the movie ITSELF is what they're idolizing and because of its success is why everything in it can't be properly criticized. I honestly don't believe there would be much admiration for the boring look of the movie if it was not a success. TMP was a far better looking aesthetic and could've worked quite well in the format of TWOK likewise TFF to TUC.

I still think he should give TFF Enterprise a chance and expand his brilliant work, maybe even make some improvements which I don't doubt needed some tinkering, but for me I enjoy everything he does because I can see there's so much fun and care in what he's doing. He's a gem of a member in this forum and I hope his bosses may allow him to share his work again here because we all are rooting for his success and want the best for him.

No, I like the aesthetics of TWOK and TUC removed from the qualities of the movies themselves. I just like Nick Meyer's take on the Star Trek Universe, blinky lights and all. While I love the exterior of the Enterprise in TMP, I find most of the interior sets too blank and sterile for my tastes. And TFF was mostly just bringing the dull beige look of TNG into the 23rd Century. Kirk's crew deserved their own look.

If I remember "Return to Tomorrow" right, that was actually the out-of-universe origin of that plot element; when it was the pilot episode of the show we refer to as Phase II for clarity, there was a point where it looked like shooting would be bumping up against pre-production, and they wanted an in-universe rationale for why the sets weren't completely finished until the second episode.
