And with that, it's time to begin on the exterior model of the Refit. Before I start modeling the ship per se, I figured it would be good to nail down the exact dimensions of a standard docking port.
There was a ton of never-before released TMP and TWOK blueprints that made it to auction a few years back. Images of these blueprints were then circulated. Of them, the blueprints for the torpedo bay, the orbital office interior, and the travel pod set itself all contain measurements for the docking port, which has an outer diameter of 7.5 feet and an inner diameter of 7 feet. The docking port schematics in MSGTTE also reflect this measurement.How did you calculate the size of the docking port here? Are there any behind the scenes documents to reference?

PLEASE NOTE that I just threw a random procedural texture on there (my "painted metal" TOS engineering tool material) to highlight edges. This is not how it will look when finished.

Hell, when I started out 20 years ago posting images of my work online, there were plenty of other artists that “blew mine out of the water”, and still are! That's the only way there's enough room for them to even open.
