Donny's Refit Enterprise Interiors (Version 2.0)

I've gotten the impression that though you aim for movie-accurate detail, your goal is a somewhat idealized Enterprise (ie- your TOS lacked the irregularities of the diameter of the saucer of the real model). That being the case, I'd definitely not wash out those red and green lights! (Apologies if I've gotten the wrong impression.)

I think that’s accurate. I shoot for screen accuracy first, but do clean things up here and there to make things more believable, if needed.

Bingo. I've created this before, but giving it a much-needed facelift and optimization pass. This tileable greeble wall also covers the ceiling of the cargo bay (and is featured in many other areas as well), so it was prudent to get it ready early so it can be used in other sets.

I've never been able to make a 'friendly' version of this accursed greeble wall. It's always chunky even when I keep the bits and pieces down to the bare minimum. That you can make a game friendly version I find impressive. :)

Wait, it's on the ceiling of the cargo bay?? *dies* OMG I never noticed it there before. They must have HATED the matte painters back in the day.

Each tile is about 5000 triangles, but it unnoticeably LODs out very well at distances, down to about 500 tris. Super efficient.

Here's what I managed to get done on the Transporter room rebuild so far:

I don't know if I'm gonna keep the greebles up on the ceiling. We never see the ceiling in any of the movies so I have some freedom here. One could assume greebles would be up there too, if keeping with the original set designer's direction that the transporter room feel as if you were inside one giant machine. I do plan on breaking up the ceiling with some light panels and visual rest, so once that and the floor grating is in place I will be able to make a better call on keeping the ceiling greebles. Right now, I must admit it looks too Borg.

In keeping with my guidlines of rebuilding these sets with more modularity in mind than in the past, I'll be taking advantage of this to be creating the following transporter rooms:
1) TMP Enterprise Transporter Room (with purple lighting and small doorway on the wall to the right of the transporter pad)
2) TWOK Enterprise Transporter Room (with bluish-grey lighting and open side hallway to the right of the transporter pad)
3) Reliant Transporter Room? (we see the pad in TWOK, unchanged from it's Enterprise apperance, but I will possibly come up with some other details to change beyond the camera view)
4) Grissom Transporter Room? (perhaps with solid floor, well-lit, and different color scheme)
5) Both the Regula One AND Old City Station Transporter Rooms (both are basically the same set with some cosmetic details changed between them)
6) And an emergency transporter and cargo transporter for the Enterprise, in both TMP and TWOK lighting schemes.

I know that sounds like a tall order, but creating just the TMP/TWOK transporter rooms will give me most of the assets I need to create the others. I'm particularly excited about the Old City Station transporter room, as it's one of my favorite sets of TSFS.

Nice and clean so far :) I don't quite remember those details to be honest. Very few shots of the transporter rooms in the movies. A bit too purple as well maybe?

Lighting is a quick WIP for now, and no, it's not exact and should be a tad bit more blue.

@Donny - the transporter effect used in the old city station was my favorite transporter effect of all of Star Trek. It was the same effect for the rest of ST3 but with an added touch of light columns to complete the effect. That to me is the definitive transporter effect - both visual and sound.

I'd like to imagine that the floor would be fully covered with gratings in a normal situation, but that doesn't seem to be the case in TWOK. It just seems kind of silly to have so much floor space that's unwalkable.

I would agree. And I’m pretty sure we’ve had this conversation last time around on my other thread. However, I’ll be sticking to the floor’s canon appearance for the TMP version and the TWOK version, despite the fact that we don’t really see the floor in the later movie or TSFS. I’ll explore a version with a more “solid” floor for the Grissom or Reliant transporters.

Most likely. I seem to have a habit of repeating myself.
Definitely stick to canon for the Enterprise.
