Donald Trump For President?

He'd probably be better than any president we've had in the last couple of decades.... I'd vote for him

Clearly he would even have a chance considering the size of the "gullible rube" voting bloc if this thread is anything to go by.

Well, when you consider how apathy towards matters politic has gone steadily up over the decades (excluding America since April 15, 2009, of course)...

To say nothing of the immense INCREASES in population over the decades (and centuries)....

Now you are just dissembling. Voter turnout was higher in 2008 than in 1984.

The population of the U.S. was ~200 million in 1964. It was ~235 million in 1984. That isn't that much of an increase. In fact, it took 58 years for the U.S. population to double from 1932.

Besides missing the point I was making (the quality of a president is irrespective of popular vote), you seem to also be missing some basic statistical data.

I'm saying again, as someone who worked in one of his casinos, there's not really anything there. Basically he's a brand name, with not much to back it up. Which may not make him that much different from many presidents, but it's not a reason to vote for him.

If Reagan was so great he'd have overcome that apathy.

His voters did. Jimmy's and Mondale's didn't.

Well, if you're going by that....

"W"--who I'm sure is your absolutely favorite president--set a record for getting the most recorded votes in history, back in '04.

But I'm sure you'll take that as "dissembling", too....;)

Now...I never said for a moment that popular vote determines a president's greatness. I simply called into question the excuses. Playing devil's advocate, as it were.

I dunno, I thought that people liked voting for brand names. Like "Republican". Or "Obama".

Rush Limborg: You're missing his point again and again. Are you doing this intentionally? He's saying that the number of people who vote for a president has little to no bearing on whether or not the president is good.

Considering that Obama got 7 Million more votes than "W" in '04... yeah I think I will take that as "dissembling". ;)

Excuses for what? Maybe I am missing what you are referring to, but I don't see anything you are questioning with your responses. Just getting in a big huff for some reason.

Dude makes dollars.

But its all flippers.

That's what got him out of the shit in '98 or '97.

Fucked up head set, but nice birds.

I wouldn't mind fucking his daughter, though.

Yeah.

Until Obama blew that number away by 7 million votes 4 years later.

Yeah--you've made that claim before.

I'd like to see your sources on that. Not saying the info is false, just saying I'd like to see them. Obama's votes vs. Bush's votes in '04. After all--we heard a LOT about Bush's historical record when that happened. The idea of Obama's breaking that record...well, I'd yet to hear about it on the news when you first made that claim....

Anyhow...I'd say the Left using numbers such as that to proclaim that America gave Ol' Barry a mandate, or Colin Powell saying that now they "want" big government...is an example of their doing exactly what you all are accusing me and the other guy of doing right now!

Love to see the Donald (somehow) as the candidate on the Democratic ticket. That way regardless if the Democrats or the Tea party/Republicans win the contest. the American people would win in the end.
Why do you hate America?
It's tough love sweetness.

Something tells me you didn't understand the joke.
I see the joke now, thanks.

Hopefully as a businessman Trump would understand better than the last few President that you don't endlessly borrow money without prospect of ever paying it off.

What the shuttering fuck?

The Federal Election Commission.
2008 Election Results
2004 Election Results

So, basic logic would tell you that. Voter turnout was higher in 2008 and Obama got a higher percentage of the vote. I guess you might have been living in a cave after the election...getting all your news from Fox and Limbaugh so it doesn't surprise me that you were never told this.

Anyhow...I'd say the Left using numbers such as that to proclaim that America gave Ol' Barry a mandate...

Like how Bush himself said he had a mandate after 2004 with smaller numbers? Yeah...he sort of did have a mandate. That's how elections work. You run and win on a platform...then you're expected to carry out that platform.

Good boy.

Well, if you read The Joker's last book, laughably titled The Truth (With Jokes), he spends the entire first chapeter whining and moaning about how even the analysts and intellectuals on his side claimed that Bush had a mandate after that....

As for Barry...as it turns out, what with the debacles over the stimulus and health care...he didn't have such a mandate...after all.

Either that...or our current President didn't carry out the platform he promised. Take your pick.

His bondholders would tell you that's exactly how he operates. Several times he's leveraged his casinos up to the eyeballs, declared bankruptcy, and eventually reconstituted the company, leaving other people holding the bag. After he built the Trump Taj Mahal, he refused to pay a lot of the subcontractors. People lost their businesses because of him. He's hardly a model of fiscal good sense.

Today he doesn't own Trump Entertainment Resorts (the company that operates the AC casinos), but he licenses their name for him to use. He's basically a mascot.
