Spoilers ST Strange New Worlds - Starships and Technology Season Four Discussion

We see more of the shuttlebay in the latest episode. The Enterprise has at least five shuttlecraft, all of the Stamets-type, and at least two workbees.
Interestingly, there's also a rack of spare shuttle nacelles on the wall of the bay, split into halves. You can draw a lot of implications about that.

I don’t think they look long enough to be complete nacelles.

I just noticed another cargo-culting use of the TMP symbolic language in addition to the cargo crates having the crate positioning indicator that's specifically meant for the quarter-oval shaped crates from TMP (visible on SNW non-quarter-oval crates in this shot); the aft hatch has the TMP icon for airlocks on it, even though it's a drawing of the raised structural pieces on the round TMP airlock doors. It's like if the handle for a garage door was mounted on a little front door from a dollhouse.

Who says those things need to be nacelles?

"Take a good look at this, people. It says something about this ship. It says that we will fight, and we will keep on fighting, until we can't fight any more!"

(I get it, they probably wouldn't keep phaser cells in the shuttlebay.)

But the way they mount nacelles on most starships implies easy replacement. Maybe those are the cores of the nacelles, and get replaced by sliding them out of their housings like jet fighter engines. You could even say some are warp-capable while others are not, which may explain some discrepancies over the years.

In the latest episode, we have a new Federation probe design, a D7, and alien ships of the week (the Mat'Aaran starships). I am surprised to learn that a D7 can be incapacitated by an EMP pulse.

Lastly, there is a mention to the USS Yang. There was a USS Yang in Discovery; it was a 32nd century starship.

Enterprise herself suffered in “Balance of Terror” from a nuke…D-7 would perhaps also fare worse.

With disruptor first—the goal is “fry theirs before they fry ours.”

Connies a bit better rad hardened.
