Ken Adam designed the Planet Of The Titans ship; McQuarrie just drew some of the concept art:I hope McQuarrie's estate gets some money for the design.
I also question the wisdom of digging up a design from a rejected series/concept (realizing that some scripts were used on TNG). I was really hoping for something new.
I could get used to the design, I guess, but the quality of the visual effects is unacceptably bad for a 2016 TV show. Hell, it'd be pretty bad for a 2006 video game.

These are not the finalized VFX for the show, just a quick and dirty teaser. According to Heather Kadin:I am a new to 3D modeling and I feel like I could do this better..
In fact.....hmmmmm![]()
For a show that the showrunners say is "different," which is already evident in how they will tell stories (like a "novel"), the ship's appearance, and "crews" (plural), I would not make fundamental assumptions such as a uniformed crew. It could be a ship of mercenaries, for example - Star Trek Firefly. The Federation and Starfleet could be at odds with this crew. Anything can happen until we know more. The key for me is the uniforms.
I'm surprised that this design seems to come as some kind of shock to so many, since the triangular hull concept goes way back to the seventies.
