I remember going TDY (Temporary Duty) as a TSgt (E-6) and then the next year as a MSgt (E-7).
As a Tech, I was given NCO quarters: a room to myself (bed, dresser, chair and table, and a TV). Once I had a private restroom, twice it was shared with the room next door, and one time I had to use the public restroom down the hall (at least the gang showers had privacy screens installed).
After I made Master, every time I went TDY, the Senior NCO quarters were double rooms, with a separate living room (a few had a kitchenette) and bedroom with a double or queen size bed. And of course, they all had private restrooms, some included a tub as well as a shower. My wife and I have stayed in hotels / motels that weren't near as nice.
Yes, moving up in rank does have its perks.
