Does anyone here exercise regularly?

What do you do? Do you go to a gym, walk/run, play sports?

Do you lie to your doctor when s/he asks?

I pretty much stick to the elliptical machine. It works my legs, arms, and even back, what with the arm part moving back and forth. A few years ago, I was up to one hour, four times a week. I started losing some weight, and gained some muscle. After not exercising and having some health issues, I've worked it up to 35, and now 40, minutes. I'm hoping to lose some weight once my thyroid gets stable again, but I'm not waiting for that to start exercising. I'm doing pretty good, considering that a year and a half ago, I couldn't walk up a flight of stairs without losing my breath and having chest pains (stupid thyroid).

Sort of. I exercise regularly when I'm physically able to do so, but I get sick quite frequently so the my exercise schedule gets disrupted. Like right now, I've been sick for a few weeks and I'm guessing at least two more before I can get back on the machine.

I feel great when I'm exercising regularly and like total crap when I'm not. :(

I've been practising jujutsu since I was a freshman at the university. Usually I train 3 times a week for about one hour (15 minutes warming up, 45 minutes actual practice). Usually every month or so we do a special training session that lasts about 3 hours, as well as a couple of full-immersion weekends. It keeps me healthy and in good shape, so I'm quite happy about it.

I do stretches and resistance exercises (pushups, crunches) daily, every week I have a Qi-gong session, and when it's not hotter than the middle of the desert, I power walk 2-3 miles a day.

I walk approximately 20 miles a week, but I need to do a lot more exercise, because I can't see much difference. I like elliptical machines but hate the gym.

Yes, I do regular exercise. It's the only way I can justify all the booze and nice food.

I like to wander around the city with a camera in my pocket taking pictures of people and buildings, which I later upload to an architecture/urban-related forum. For a while, I wasn't working. During that time, I probably walked about 20 miles a week doing that just to avoid being at home in front of the computer. More recently, I have been working, and since my job involves walking around, I haven't felt the need. I do enjoy walking, however.

I work hard at exercising as irregularly as possible.

It's a tough job, but I've gotten good at it over the years.

i have a stationary bike that I work out on nearly daily. I'm diabetic and exercise helps maintain my blood sugar along with my pills. I hate diabetes and I hate exercising because I have to.

I walk an average of about 5 miles a day just going about my daily routine. I guess that's "exercise", although it's not of a formal or planned kind. I used to use a gym, but that felt too fake and forced and did not fit easily into my lifestyle, plus I did not like paying for the privilege of working hard. I can as easily work up a sweat cleaning the flat top to bottom, or walking places instead of paying transport fees. All in all, I spend less money, and my hard work and sweat goes to something useful instead of a gym membership. I did have a period not long ago though when I wasn't nearly so active, and boy, did those pounds pile on! Neither did I feel that great as far as health and mood were concerned. Activity makes all the difference. Well done for putting some effort in, Propita, I know it's not always easy to make a change.

I try and walk virtually every day for at least 30 minutes, but I'm planning doing some more cycling and swimming as the warmer months are here.

I am an Olympic class non exerciser.

I walk to the other side of the campus and back, 1/2 mile RT, couple of times a week, sometimes couple times a day...that's it.

I know I should, but just haven't started.

Exercise

Hmm

You will be amazed what a license suspension and a home half an hour's walk away from the railway station will do to you. I lost like five kilos simply by having to walk an hour every day.

I exercise quite a bit, not as much as I'd like but I'm pretty active and busy in general. In pretty good shape, despite a bit of weird health.
