Does Anyone Go to Strip Clubs?

I haven't been in one since 1989. But that was an experience. I didn't even know it was a strip club, I just wanted a couple of cold beers. Until the naked chick sat down at the bar stool next to me and I discovered that Oregon does next to nothing when it comes to regulating these places. No required coverage of any body parts, no minimum distance rules, dancers can drink naked with the patrons, none of the stuff I'd run into in other states. I decided at that point the odds of anything even better happening to me were slim and none, so I ended my strip club career (so to speak) on a high note.

Ended up in one in Auckland a few years ago - Showgirls I believe it was called, ah yes the overpowering smell of sweat and desperation lurking there is coming back to me, the men with glasses, greasy hair and the look of people who carry a shovel in the back of their car........ but hell I was 17 and the fit Kiwi girl on the desk let me in on the basis I had a cute British accent so at the time that was damn cool.

Now I've matured ..... slightly ...... I wouldn't go in one, not even just for a few beers with mates, I think there's something just a little bit crappy about lasses wandering round in their underwear whilst old men leer across a room.......

What is your take on these institutions? Waste of money? Waste of time? Harmless fun? Good investment?

Males and females reply. I haven't been to one since college. But I have had some very interesting experiences in these wonderul establishments of morality.
Although I've never been a frequent visitor to these establishments I've seen enough to offer an opinion.

Overall I think they're harmless, and they've existed in some form or other seemingly forever...or as long as men like seeing naked women.

Generally I don't see the women as being the exploited. Rather I think it's mostly the patrons with their heads full of fantasy that are being played to hand over their money without the slightest hesitation.

Actually I found the women more appealing in years gone by. The real difference isn't in their appearance, but in their approach and general demeanor. Twenty to thirty years ago you saw a lot of French Canadian girls in Ontario strip clubs and they were generally charming, well mannered and more subtle in their manner. Today there's a lot of Eastern European girls who are generally harder, more brusque, more transparent and not all that well mannered. And they tend to favour the more transparent hard sell if I may say so.

Of course, also, I generally don't care for the music they tend to play these days in the clubs today. Too much hip-hop and rap for my tastes.

That said I found the novelty wears off fast. When you're a teenager or in your early twenties the idea of being able to see naked girls openly is enticing. Soon enough though after a few visits you quickly get a sense of how those girls are (usually) out of reach and unobtainable. It becomes old hat and if you're with friends you wind up paying more attention to your conversations amongst each other and barely noticing the girls anymore.

"Would you like a dance?" every 30 seconds as you try to take one sip of ale.

Strippers are like those pushy sales telemarketers except they are naked and hot.

Yeah, the ones that try to act all seductive with their faux bedroom talk and not even convincing in the slightest are beyond fake (in more ways than one) and I enjoy not giving them the time of day (if I went to one of these establishments of course).

^^ Not all strippers are hot or even appealing in the generally accepted sense. Quite a few might challenge your ideas as to what constitutes appealing. Then again they have to cater to different tastes. I've actually seen generously chubby girls make a decent buck as a stripper.

I think strip clubs are disgusting, degrating to women, and a pathetic attempt to root desprate men of money. Went twice and that was two times too many.

If I ever went to a strip club I think I would take a hint from Larry the Cable Guy, he did a joke about tipping a stripper with Monopoly money. "She said 'That's fake money!'...I said 'Them are fake titties!'" :guffaw:

I've pondered it but I probably wouldn't like it at all. I'm sure it depends on the quality of the club, though.

Actually what flummoxes me is when married people go. Aren't they getting any at home? :(

Well, what's wrong if married people wanna have more than a vanilla relationship? Maybe the wifey likes girls, too.

And besides, some guys go to strip bars because their lil misses is not so little anymore. Or she's one of those, "We're married, we don't need to have sex or other silly stuff like that."

Anyhow, for my answer.

Sometimes, I do. I go to Canadian ones, though. Because the drinking age is much lower than America (America....you'd think you'd have a clue by now as why students go to Canada and Mexico for spring break. ), the music's better, the drinks were better (American beers SUCK), and the girls were hotter.

Me and my first g/f, the cute lil intersexed girl I mentioned in another thread (Her name was Melinda, by the way, but she prefered Mel) went to a strip club shortly after high school ended. Since she liked both guys and girls (and inbetweens), she had a great time. She got quite a few lap dances, as did myself. It's pretty fun seeing a busty, curvy naked chick giving a small, petite goth babe a lapdance. The stripper, I think, got turned on when she found out of Mel's....extra down there. :D Was fun also when Mel was asking some of the girls where they got their stripper heels from. We did not drink anything, we preferred having a clear head when having a good time.

And let's say when we got back to her home, we had a pretty damned good night ourselves. :bolian:

My girlfriend occasionally talks about wanting to go to a strip club. She tends to be a little impetuous with things she doesn't like later on though so I haven't exactly encouraged that particular outing. I am not sure I'd really know what to do in a strip club with my girl right next to me.

You know if you are really that horrified by them I would have thought once would be plenty.

Had to double check the disgusting degradingness did you?

She'd probably wanna stick some $$$ into one of the girls' g-strings, with yas, perhaps. :bolian:

I forgot to mention that my roommate is a webcam girl, and that's sort of like being a stripper. She's definitely very highly amused by the concept of people giving her money to sit naked in front of a computer and talk about things like The Ramones or Dario Argento movies.

^ Both excellent topics of conversation IMO, regardless of the state of undress either party is in.

Reminds me of a line from the movie Porky's II: "I watched every disgusting minute of it....*twice*."

Perhaps, but it's not always like that, is it? :vulcan:

Isn't that exactly the problem I just mentioned?

I think thats part of the reason I find them unappealing. The first club I went to (nice place, in Coventry for anyone in Middle-England looking for some fun times and expensive beer) two of us pretended to be a gay couple just so they'd stop asking us every time we took a breath.

I've been to a few, but despite me being a large fan of female nudity, it just didn't work for me. Aside from one girl who looked like Christina Aguilera...

I wouldn't agree it's degrading to women... I never understand that, it's ot as if they're forced to dance and take their clothes of - ost of the dancers I've met don't really care.

I'll never forget the stripper who approached me with absolutely no provocation, twisted the hell out of my nipples and asked me if I wanted a dance.

I asked her why she did that, and she said "You looked like you would be into that kind of thing."

Well, when you're right, you're right, I suppose.
