Doctor, why the unethical acts?

Mayack419

Lieutenant Junior Grade
Red Shirt
Notice as the doctor leaves people's injuries untreated when it adds to dramatic effect. In Basics 1 and 2 at the end of season 2, he leaves Suter's head injuries untreated for the whole fucking episodes. He also does the same in 5x14, Bliss, to Naomi Wildman. Anyone notice any other times?

They were hardly life-threatening injuries. I've always throught 24th century Trek was far too quick to wave a magic wand over every little scrape and bruise.

During Bliss, wasn't the Doctor's program modified and even shutdown for a period of time, until the rest of the crew had become incapacitated?

He had been shut down because the crew were being manipulated.

And yeah, in Gravity there's that part where Tuvok unmasks the alien, sees a slight mark on her cheek and says "You need medical attention." or whatever. It was just a cosmetic scratch, not even a boo boo, I think she would survive.

You don't have the medical background to make such a statement.

That scratch could have been lethal. I've cut myself shaving a few times and it's been touch and go whether I'd live or die. I was using a Samurai sword and cheap shaving foam though so I suppose it was partly my fault.

But enough with this reverie...

Wow you could have chopped off your neck! Furthermore I don't think the Doctor was unethical. No at times it got cringe worthy as he lamented about being ethical.

There was an entire episode where his matrix destabilized due to his inability to reconcile a triage choice he made. That's taking your ethical subroutines TO THE EXTREEEEEEMME!!!

Chop "out" the neck?

ever seen those wood chopping competitions where the guys are standing on the logs they're cleaving into?

Standing up to and defying his ethical subroutines is proof that he is "alive" and not an app... Otherwise he would turn into an absoute monster if some one was ever to remove his ethical subroutines..

Oh wait?

That happened.

;)

(Kryten: "Since I don't have ethics programming anymore I had to work it out logically. If humans eat chickens, of course they'd eat their own kind, otherwise they'd just be picking on the chickens.")
