Above average.
I felt very let down by this episode. There was a lot of spectacle in for sure. So much so, that it brought it up to an above average despite serious problems.
I was very let down by the resolution to the cliffhanger. Regeneration? Nah, just healing. The method by which Donna and the TARDIS were rescued was a let down. Don't worry, there's a spare doctor in the hand! I was let down by the overall resolution to the Dalek threat. The answers just sort of came from nowhere. One minute Donna is down, next she's up solving all the problems just by typing fast! Yeah, she got the Doctor's knowledge but it was just too easy for her to type everything in.
I was let down by the Three-Fold man. There were exciting possibilities: future, present, and past Doctors all together. The possibilities were endless. Nah, we got the Tennant Dr back (who I like and that's good) but the human Doctor and Doctor-Donna were a let down.
I know there was more but I'll stop for now while I read the thread. I also didn't like Donna's end story. Having her forget the great, fantastic things she's done was tough to watch. If I want darkness, I'll watch nuBSG. I wasn't expecting a happy ending for her. Shoot, I predicted the memory loss ending, but I don't like it. Maybe they'll revisit it down the road? And just why did the human Doctor have to stay in the other reality? No real reason given there.
Oh, one more thing that bugged me. Donna being the most important person in the universe. It was supposed to be some deep meaningful thing but in reality she was only the most important because she was with the Doctor who gave her the knowledge to defeat the Daleks. It really wasn't Donna. And, I'm saying that as a big Donna fan. That whole thing just fell flat for me.
Sarah Jane, Jack, Martha, and Mickey all seemed wasted in this one.
I'll stop now. There was some good stuff too. But, all in all, I was dissappointed. Above average might be generous.
