Do you wish we had seen the other Babylon stations?

We saw Babylon 5 heaps.

We saw Babylon 4 in three episodes.

We briefly saw an incomplete Babylon 1 go boom in a TV movie.

Wouldn't it have been nice to see the first three stations complete? Or at the very least see the incomplete Babylon 2 & 3 stations and their fates?

A good opportunity would've been the season two episode 'And Now For A Word', as there could've been a flash back to the first four stations using 'security footage'. Or perhaps show all five stations at the end of 'In The Beginning'. Or maybe even as part of Jinxo's rant in 'Grail'.

I don't know that it matters to me to see the stations in the incomplete state they were in when they were sabotaged but considering how different B4 was from B5 it might have been interesting to see the designs of the early stations.

Sorry, the clarify I meant showing what happened to Babylon 2 & 3 just like we saw with Babylon 1. Obviously, they would be at whatever stage of construction they'd be at.

From a fan's perspective, it might be interesting to see. But from a production perspective, I wouldn't want the series to waste money on those visual effects shots when they could spend them on more important things.

For the longest time I swore that in the original version of "In the Beginning" the 'montage' scene (when the EA President announces the Babylon project) contained all five stations. I think I must have imagined that. From what I gather, the only version of that scene that ever existed showed only Babylons 1, 4 and 5.

I think I do remember JMS saying that the stations were all different colors, in order (B1=red, B2=orange, B3=yellow, B4=green, B5=blue).

I would have liked to have seen Babylon 4 during the Shadow War of the 1250's (Earth years). During that time Valen/ Sinclair would have been running it. The actions of that war would have been exciting to watch. I wish that B4 got lost in time again and didn't meet the fate of being "taken out' like B5 was. Cobra

The movie only shows Babylon 1.

They sure used a lot of resources to keep building new stations after the last one blew up. :)

All the other kings said is was daft to build a castle in the swamp. But I built it anyway, just to show 'em. It sank into the swamp. So I built another one. It sank into the swamp. I built a third one. It burnt down, fell over, then sank into the swamp. But the fourth one stayed up.

I would've liked to have seen them, just for the design aspect alone. It would've been cool just to see them, even if in passing, during various stages of construction. I think that viewers could get a real sense of the sheer size of them this way.

Along these lines, it might have been cool if in some administration office on Babylon 5, Sinclair/Sheridan's office for example, if there'd been five pieces of art all showing renderings of the different stations. I'd enjoy just seeing what all the finished stations would've looked like.

A yellow Babylon 3 must have been friggin ugly. No wonder it got blowed up.

You get a glimpse of that in the canon comic "In Valen's Name", which includes the ultimate fate of B4. While it never got lost in time again, it lasted a hell of a lot longer than B5 did.

I would like to have seen the designs of B2 & B3 as well, for that matter we never did even get a clear look a B1. If you watch the sequence it's all in tight pans and close-ups so you never get much of a sense of the whole thing. One can only assume this was intentional.

I'm currently reading this for the first time. It's very good!

This did come up as a story point (or at least jms mentioned it somewhere) - the first four were built with Earth Alliance funds but the Alliance wasn't going to be able to fund another one. Babylon 5 had to be built with extra funds from the Centauri & Minbari as well...but the Minbari wouldn't fund it unless Sinclair was commanding it.
