When it comes to film and television, all the time. When it comes to reading, I don't do as much of that (outside of school) as I would like, whether it be a genre work or otherwise.

Of course. I like to read anything that interests me. I also love to click on the Discovery Channel, the Travel Channel (I love Anthony Bourdain), the news programs, just to learn a little something. I even put on those House Hunting programs while I'm cooking, etc, just to see what it would be like to live in another country. Hell, I even watch Top Gear, even though I know sweet FA about cars.

I'm interested in history, travel, biographies, archeology, psychology--pretty much anything that grabs my fancy can be an interesting read or a fun program.

I think I'd be an even duller person than I am now if I only cared about scifi. Yes, it's a big part of my personality, but not the only part.

Most of the movies I watch are SF/F. Many, but not all, of the TV shows I intentionally follow are SF/F. Many, but not all, of the books I read are SF/F.

However, the GF isn't really into that genre, so I have been vegging to less interesting shows a bit lately.

I watch a lot of non-SFF TV and movies. I have very broad taste in genres in those two media. In terms of reading, SFF accounts for most of the fiction I read, but not all of it. If I read something other than an SFF novel it's more likely to be non-fiction (history and biographies being my most common non-fiction reads), but I do sometimes read non-SFF fiction, too.

Yes. I enjoy history, so I read a lot of fiction and nonfiction of a historical nature. On TV I've been known to watch cooking shows, sitcoms, contemporary dramas and cop/lawyer shows. Not into medical shows though.

Of course. I'll watch westerns, mysteries, spy thrillers, period films, you name.

Last night the girlfriend and I watched "American Idol" and I'm looking forward to new episode of "The Killing" on Sunday.

First, though, I'm watching the season finale of MERLIN tonight.

The idea of a s-f fan NOT being interested in anything not sci-fi related strikes me as...odd.

Me too. Which is why I was curious. I have seen a few remarks lately (not here, specifically) where someone will say that they don't watch anything that doesn't have spaceships, time travel, etc. Was just curious.

The media I watch often errs on the side of genre. But I don't limit myself to it. I watch a lot of documentaries for instance, and most of what I read isn't genre at all.

Yes, yes, and yes. I watch some non-genre shows and movies (though when I purchase Blu-rays/DVDs they tend to be genre more often than not), and read some non-genre fiction, mostly historical mystery thrillers and historical fiction (I'm a history nerd :p).

I watch far more non-sci-fi/fantasy TV and movies than the other way around. It isn't hard given that there is more non-sci-fi/fantasy stuff going around. My DVD collection sci-fi is in the minority, though many of my friends consider me a sci-fi geek.

In terms of books and comics, I read mostly sci-fi stuff, the bulk of that is tie-in works. Apart from that I read military fiction/non-fiction and thrillers. That said the last 5 books I read were sci-fi.
