Do you want to see more Time Lords? (spoilers up through current eps.)

Perhaps even a rebirth of Gallifrey...? Or would you rather have the Doctor continue as the last of his kind?

Re: Do you want to see more Time Lords? (spoilers up through current e

I think everyone knows by now that I desperately want to see the return of Romana. My theory has always been that she escaped to E-Space (going by the belief that she had returned to Gallifrey and became Lady President as Davies said in notes) when the Daleks invaded Gallifrey. I've also wanted to see Susan return and I was severely disappointed by "The Doctor's Daughter" on that count.

And you can never rule out The Master. He has survived worse in the past.

Yes, i would love to see Gallifrey return in some shape or form, if the Daleks survived the timewar or escaped it why not the poor old Timelords.

Re: Do you want to see more Time Lords? (spoilers up through current e

I'm not sure, the Doctor as the last of the Timelords has freed the show of a lot of baggage, but done right it would be nice to see the Timelords from time to time (pardon the pun) It adds a new dynamic if suddenly the Doctor has a higher power he has to answer to.

Re: Do you want to see more Time Lords? (spoilers up through current e

Absolutely not. It's bad enough that the Daleks keep coming back, but the Time Lords, too?

That the Doctor is the last of the Time Lords is one of the defining elements of the series and adds to it a unique layer of depth and poignancy that would be lost if the Time Lords were brought back.

I think for me, the whole reason The Doctor never visits Rose is because he can't. With the Time Lords back, travel between parallel worlds would probably be possible again.

I think it adds depth to the Doctors character as well. And I always feel giddy when a new series starts because I want to learn more about the Time War and how the Doctor ended it all.

As a relative newbie to the franchise, I'd love to see a take on them in the new series, especially under Moffat.

Timelords done justice, with the kind of apocalyptic powers they had in The War Games, would fit right in with the New Series style of seeking a bigger and badder wolf. Used sparingly, and not in the psuedo Political-Catholism way they've done to death with since the 70's. They need to be supernatural and the Doctor's "worst fear". A threat capable of undoing his own history and splitting him forever from the extended family he's been building around him. Then back in the Doctor Who toybox, until the Moffat era reaches a critical mass too.

On the one hand I really like the tragedy of the Doctor being the last one, and it makes him more important in the cosmic scheme of things. On the other hand, how cool would it be to discover that Susan or Romana survived with a fobwatch like the Master? I'd like them to bring back Romana only.

Aye, geez a coupla Thyme Lairds nae bother.

Definitely bring them back.

It would be interesting to see them with some continuity and a real sense of their society's structure.

I think the modern audience (I really mean the ones too young to have seen the old series) need to see exactly what it means to be a Time Lord in their proper context, not just by hearing what other characters say. Imagine just talking about the Daleks and never seeing them.

Anyway the "last of his race" thing was always a bit corny!!

I would say yes..kind of. Since the time war eliminated the Time Lords from time I think another group would have risen to fill the vacuum so to speak. These new Time Lords could set out to change time and their first target is of course the Doctor.

Anthony Stewart Head's character (Mr. Finch in School Reunion) had such ambitions, and it's unclear whether he is still alive. Perhaps he could return in the capacity you outlined...He would make an excellent long-term villain. Though, I suppose they might have made his character a bit too outright evil to get all the opportunities out of the idea.

I think the Doctor's assertions that he is the last are just his perception. The Time Lords were such an advanced race, I find it hard to believe that just a couple survived the Time War. I would be interested in seeing the Doctor discover a colony of TL's somewhere. I do want Romana back too!

I've gone back and forth on this. At first I didn't appreciate that RTD got rid of the Time Lords. But then it became kind of a cool story point that the Dr was the last of the Time Lords. All in all, I would like to see them return. The final Time Lord thing has run its course. Now, a big dramatic return.

I'd love it if some Time Lords came back in addition to the Doctor and the Master, but I'd be horrified if Gallifrey came back, with all its pompous space/time jackasses.

Re: Do you want to see more Time Lords? (spoilers up through current e

Forgive the question, but did the Dr. Who movie deal with the Time War? Was the Time War ever depicted or was it an idea that came with the ninth Doctor?

FYI: I'm a bit out of it with Dr. Who lore - I saw all of Tom Baker and a little of Davison, then PBS in the States stopped showing Dr. Who. I missed all of the Doctors between Davison and Eccleston.

Re: Do you want to see more Time Lords? (spoilers up through current e

I have never believed that the Time Lords were ever actually desroyed.
