1) Do you lock your door when you are home during the day?
Yes. It's a force of habit that I picked up about 14 years ago, after a guy with a gun walked into my parent's house in the middle of the day and tried to rob my brother and I (we were the only ones home). The guy didn't get anything, I smacked the guy in the head with a metal trash can, and my brother got the gun. Guy ended up getting arrested and thrown in jail. But after that day, it became a habit at home to always keep the door locked. Even though I now live in a MUCH improved neighborhood in the middle of suburban utopia, I still keep the door locked.
2) Do you ever forget to lock your door at night?
Nope. It should be locked anyway, but I double-check before going to bed.
3) Do you keep your windows shut during the day?
Yes, unless it's a nice day outside and I am at home. I live in a ground-floor condo so it'd be easy for someone to cut the screens and come in, so I won't leave the windows open or even unlocked unless I'm home.
4) Do you ever leave windows open at night?
Nope. They're all shut and locked when I go to bed.

Likewise. Except without the alarm. Granted, my area is pretty safe, but the house has been broken into twice over the years. Those aren't fun.

My doors and windows are always locked, I even set the alarm when I'm in for the night. I don't close the bathroom door though (unless I have guests) and I close the bed room doors when I go to bed.
1) I never lock the door when I'm at home during the day. I would probably feel like a prisoner in my own home.

4) Always, unless it's too cold. We have no air conditioning and I wouldn't want one (noisy, makes the air "dry" somehow and I concider it to be a contribution to the pollution). So I leave the window a bit open for fresh air. There is a trick to lock the window while it's open so it can't be opened from the outside.
Nothing has ever happened. However, my grandparents used to live in an apartment of a multi-family house. They lived on the first floor and had a balcony. So one night my grandfather caught a burglar as he was trying to get in from there.

I doubt anyone here would go to the bother of flying all the way to Tassie just to break into my house especially see I have little worth stealing, besides I have three ferocious cats guarding my home.
So true - anyone who has the plane fare to come to Saskatchewan already has more money than me!
Also, I own a sword and keep it within reach!

Once, I was alone at my parents' flat and heard someone in the hall, while I was in the kitchen. I grabbed a large kitchen knife for self defense but it turned out it was just my father who had returned early. It was quite a rush of adrenaline, I can tell you.

The last two aren't a concern, since we live on the third floor and there is no fire escape to bad guys to climb up on. However the first two are since there's a very handy staircase that is unlocked during the day and pretty easy to break into during the night.

Depends on what you mean by locking. It can't be opened from the outside without a key. But I don't double-lock it in the sense that you'd need a key to open it from the inside, which is possible to do with my lock.
