Do you know your blood type?

I'm A+.

Not permitted to give blood though, for a number of reasons, as much as I would like to. :( I did, however, help a blood bank in its marketing and demographics research once, so I like to think that they were able to get others' donations because of that work. At least, I hope so. :)

A+. I know because I give blood. It's not really the most important piece of knowledge to have though, in any situation when you might receive blood it'll be checked.

I don't know my blood type. The doctor that did take my blood didn't say what my blood type was. Now my grandfather had the rarest of the blood types. A pitty he died from smoking many years ago. He would proved to be a valuable source for blood donations.

In 5th grade science class, as we were studying the circulatory system, the teacher had a nurse come in to find out all our blood types. It broke down pretty much as it should've. Most of us were A. I'm A+. Dead common.
One girl in the class, who happened to be the girl most of us boys had a crush on, was AB-. The nurse made a big deal of how rare that was, saying that she was probably the only person in the school with that blood type. To us guys, that only added to her aura.

And if so, why do you know?

I had a card with my blood type done when I was 1 year old, I don't know why, maybe because my mother thought it was safer to know.
Anyway, that was tested again when I donated my blood when I was a student. I also had the whole phenotype done but I've lost the card since.
A+ BTW.

I have heard that it's safer to test blood from a patient rather than taking the chance that they remember correctly. Anybody who can confirm or deny that?

No doctor would take a silly risk with something as dangerous as blood type. It will always be re-tested.
(I'm a medical lab technician, that's why I know for sure).

My dogtags say my blood type is O positive.
Comes in handy when you're wounded out there, unconscious, etc. If only I'd wear those damn things all the time... :shifty:

I am AB+. I believe, if memory serves, I am a universal recipient. Or in other words, I can used any type as long as it is positive.

If it was through the Red Cross, they should give you a paper once you're done with a number that you can call and find out. Hell the Red Cross sent me a card with my blood type on it.

And if so, why do you know?

It seems like something potentially important to know, but I've never been in a situation where anyone would be able to tell me.

I found out a few years ago that I am AB+

I went with my friend to donate Blood, it was my first time and my last as far as I'm concerned lol. They sent me a letter a week later along with a Doner card stating my Blood group.

On another note, I've been getting junk mail from them ever since.

I am AB+.

Since you have the same group as me this must mean you are also a superhuman. :)
