So... you want an iPod Touch?
I have an iPod Touch, I'm not talking about offline apps. If I had one, it would be to stream online radio, TV, surf the internet, GPS, etc. Touch has wi-fi, but Wi-fi isn't everywhere.

Well, then it'd be an iPhone. That's the biggest difference between the two. Sure, the Touch has less RAM, and a bigger drive, and a worse camera, and a smaller battery, and no earpiece speaker, but the primary difference is the lack of the cellular modem and antenna. That's the only reason it's smaller, lighter, and cheaper (compared to the unsubsidized price of an iPhone).

So, an iPod Touch with the iPad's wireless system?
Why would you need to spend $100?? About $60 will get you everything one would need and want.I have an iPod Touch, I'm not talking about offline apps. If I had one, it would be to stream online radio, TV, surf the internet, GPS, etc. Touch has wi-fi, but Wi-fi isn't everywhere.

Are you being obtuse for any particular reason?
Again, so it's perfectly clear to you: if I was going to buy an iPhone, it would only be because of the G3/G4 high-speed connectivity anywhere I want. However, to get that, I need to spend $100 a month and be bound to a three year contract.
No thanks.
Really? Where are finding a data plan for an iPhone on AT&T for $60? 'Cause I want in.
Isn't iPhone going to start branching out to other carriers in the US sometime soon?
Actually, in many ways Canada is way worse then the US when it comes to cellphones... 3 year contracts are standard and things like caller ID are extra. When I moved here I actually started to miss Verizon which I didn't think was possible.
On Rogers you just need to be subscribing to at least a 1GB data plan (whether bundled with voice or not) to receive free tethering access.Actually, in many ways Canada is way worse then the US when it comes to cellphones... 3 year contracts are standard and things like caller ID are extra. On the plus side tethering does not cost $20 extra a month. On the TELUS network anyway, I don't know about Rogers or Bell
