Do you get dressed

Shave, shower, and dress every day. I have to shower twice on most days of the week since I am at the gym almost daily. If I am not going out anywhere in the evening, I will often lounge in sweats.

When i'm at home and not expecting any company i dress down as much as i can

Summer usually my boxer shorts and a T-Shirt, on colder days during Fall and Winter i put on sweatpants. However when i venture out of the appartment i at least put on proper pants and shoes unless it's a quick jog to the cornerstore to get some stuff in which case the sweatpants stay on if i feel lazy.

Basically as comfortable as possible and a modest standard when in company our just outside.

Really dressing up (suit or very fine clothing) is a rare occasion for me and usually only done for important business appointments, going to the Opera/fancy theater or to high level social events such as weddings.

I have become very conscious recently of how getting dressed has this incredibly substantial effect on my state of mind.

Sometimes I go through my whole "off to the office", workday routine even on a day off, and then just sit down to play video games. But, you know, ready to go out at any time, even if it's very unlikely that I will.

I still appreciate slummin' it, of course, but sometimes getting ready to go out is all it takes for me to feel good about myself.

I generally lounge around it sweatpants or shorts and remain shirtless at home. On the weekends I'll usually skip a shower on either Saturday or Sunday.

Of course, I never go out in sweatpants. I'll put on jeans and a decent shirt if I plan to leave the apartment.

As for going outside in sweatpants, I go with the Jeff Gerstmann philosophy of "my car = extension of my house", so: going to the drivethrough would be fine, going to the supermarket would be a no-no.

I work from home. I 'attend' online meetings in my underwear. Not gonna lie, this shit's glorious.

And hell, it's San Diego, so even in most of the nicer restaurants you can get away with shorts and sandals.

I just have a pair of shorts for around the house. Comfortable and decent enough if someone should come to the door, but not for going beyond the yard in. Whatever T-shirt happens to be handy completes the ensemble.

That's pretty much what I do too.

I'm fully dressed before I head downstairs with no exceptions. I got into this habit when my kids were very small. Basically if I didn't get dressed before they woke up I had pretty much no chance to get dressed until my husband came home from work. At my last job I had a dress code but for the most part I'm a jeans and comfortable sweater kind of girl. I'm in the process of setting up my own business at home but will still be dressed when I'm working. For me the big issue is not whether to get dressed but whether I bother to do hair and makeup, which I never bother with if I'm not leaving the house and don't bother with sometimes if I do.

When I'm in my car on public streets, I'm in public. "My car = extension of my house" only makes sense if your house looks like this.

Considering I have net curtains/sheers on all my windows I could never live in a house like that.

^This is me. Working from home can be fabulous. I've held online training sessions while wearing just a t-shirt and a undies. If they ever went to something like Skype, I'd be screwed.

slightly off-topic but that reminds me of an incident on TV in the late 60s: it was a very hot summer and about 120°F in the studio and while a remarkably cool-looking lady read the news the camera moved down below her desk to reveal that she wore neither stockings nor shoes and had her feet in a bowl of cold water :D
At that time TV was something extremely serious (like theatre) and the press tried to make a big scandal. She was terribly embarassed but the audience was 100% solidary with her and she got washtubs full of fan mail :)

^^ I remember seeing a photo of George Takei on the set of one of the Star Trek movies, sitting at his console, in uniform from the waist up, but wearing shorts. In the scene, he would only be seen from above the console, and it was hot in the studio. :rommie:

Fun fact, it's completely legal in this country to operate your car in the nude as it is mostly not viewed as an exhibitionist act by the courts. At most, it is treated as an administrative offense, and only if someone actually moves the matter for prosecution - the authorities will not act on their own.

I don't usually shower if I'm not leaving the house, but I do usually get dressed, unless I don't feel well. Wouldn't dream of going further than the mailbox and trash can in my bathrobe.

in Germany it'd first of all be a traffic offense: you are bound to operate a car only with appropriate footwear that prevents you from slipping off the pedals and causing an accident.
Whether it'd count as exhibitionism - hmm, I'd say it's borderline but as long as the driver doesn't stand up it'd be ok. And even if he does it might propably just count as "causing public nuissance" (or causing public merriment, depending on the size... :D)

That's actually not quite correct. (Sorry for quoting in German).
