Do You Eat Breakfast?

I usually wake up quite hungry, so I always have breakfast: a marmalade-filled croissant, a tall grass of orange juice, and a shot of espresso, typically eaten at a bar (I suppose you would call it a coffee shop) on my way to work. I also usually have some fruits around 11, and as an afternoon snack. I found that eating little and often makes me feel better than a few big meals through the day.

Sometimes I have a bigger breakfast when I'm away in hotels and such (cereals and milk, yoghurt and honey, maybe a toast), but the idea of eating eggs, bacon, mushrooms and similar stuff, except as a novelty, is baleful to me. :lol:

Yes, I eat breakfast:)
I usually eat few slices of toast(3-4) with marmalade,
one banana, cup of green tea..and two glasses of orange juice.
Sometimes bit of chocolate, too.

It takes me a few hours to get hungry after I get up so I normally skip breakfast. It doesn't help that I tend to hate all breakfast foods. The only time I eat breakfast is if I have a free lesson in Uni and me and my friends go for the £1 fry up in the canteen. Gorgeous!

It's a very rare day that I have to wake up before about 10:30/11 so having breakfast doesn't really figure. Even back when I did have to get up early, I never really had breakfast because I'd get up at the last minute in order to get to where I needed to be on time. I am not a morning person...

Having said that, it just so happens that I have a run of a few days right now (today, tomorrow, Tuesday) where I'm having to wake up at the ungodly hour of 8am. Ugh... not something I approve of. Still no breakfast though; who can be hungry in the middle of the night!? I'm making time to pop out for coffee and a croissant around mid/late-morning instead.

I usually start my day with a vanilla latte from Starbucks. I'll follow up with a protein bar or a bagel an hour or two later. From that point on, I eat something every couple of hours through dinner. I don't often eat a traditional breakfast, lunch and dinner. I eat all throughout the day.

Yeah, same here. I get up at 8:30 am, school starts at 9:40 am. I get a cuppa when i wake up and a croissant (I love them!), a bagel or some small sandwich from the cafeteria at school.

When I start at 10:20 or 10:40, then I get a proper breakfast.

^ Tape worm?

Christ, I'd have to hire someone to come bash me about the head with a 2x4 to make that happen. :lol:

I've noticed a severe lack of quality breakfast joints where I live. A city of 1 million+ and I've only found 5-6 that aren't your standard step-above fast food restaurants.

You guys are funny. I'm up at about 4am every day. 8oclock is practically lunchtime for me. :rommie:

I smoke three or four cigarettes and drink a couple of sodas when I wake up. Does that count as breakfast?

Breakfast is important because it jump starts your metabolism for the day. Your metabolism slows considerably while you sleep, and if you don't eat something soon after waking up, it will remain slow throughout the day, and you will be more likely to put on excess fat.

When will this myth die....?!

Meal timing and frequency have virtually no effect whatsoever on 'metabolism', there have been literally dozens and dozens of studies proving this beyond doubt, not to mention the massive success of many fitness minded individuals who eat all of their calories together late in the day and have successfully lost a lot of weight.

I'm not saying don't eat breakfast, a lot of people do every day. And if they don't they tend to over eat later in the day and feel crap in the morning. Just don't make a point of having breakfast due to this thoroughly debunked myth.

If anyone is interested in this then here's a link providing further links to a wealth of studies debunking this;

And here's an independent study which tackles this directly;

I never had breakfast when I was younger. I didn't like the taste of milk that my mother wanted me to drink and therefore I avoided breakfast in general.

However, around 2 years ago, I made a decision to start having breakfast every day. I don't like sweet tastes, so I usually have a toast with a slice of cheese or an egg.

(my friend used to play that on our way to Altoona in the mornings)

I'm extremely predictable with my first two meals. Breakfast is milk and cereal, usually in cheerio form. I vary the type of cheerios every so often. Lunch is always a Nutri-Grain bar and a PB&J sandwich, with the occasional addition of yogurt/pudding/banana.
