Disney Scraps Plans For Further Star Wars Storys

I hate his posts, but this one isn't too wrong. The JJ-verse Trek movies are action movies. Star Wars is attempting to become a tad more cerebral. True and true.
Star Wars has always attempted a morality tale. Abrams Trek may have more action to them, but they are still woven with the social commentary that TOS worked from as a foundation. They are far more closer to TOS in spirit than would ever be acknowledged.

It's a business. Solo disappointed.
And? Of course they reevaluate. They've been there since the opening weekend. This is not some Earth shattering revelation. This is business, and the performance of Solo will be gleaned for all the data points it can give. That's not anything new-that's how a business treats a product.

It will be interesting to see if the Johnson trilogy goes forward, as well as the other projects. My guess is that Disney will not go forward with Johnson's project due to how much of a lightning rod The Last Jedi and the director have become. The Game of Thrones guys or Favreau don't generate the same kind of ire and likely will get to continue.

Some of you will say "obviously" but I completely agree with this statement. And further, I believe Disney would agree too.
Another thing mentioned in the collider article is their desire to just focus on successfully bringing Episode IX to the screen. Right now it must be a death march for them, having to sink around half a billion dollars into a movie that could either be a major hit or the biggest and costliest flop the studio has ever seen. Nobody would have ever thought that about a Star Wars movie, but here we are.
Add to that the enormous amount of money they have invested in two massive theme parks dedicated entirely to a franchise that is losing fans in droves and a lightning rod is the last thing they're going to want around.
My guess is if Episode IX is a success, we'll get the "Thrones" trilogy every Christmas. If not, I seriously would not expect to see another Star Wars film for many, many years.
But on the bright side, there'll be lots of coupon days at Star Wars Land.

"Cerebral" is a word people throw around in pretense. However, the Kelvin films have more subtext and conceptual depth than about 90% of any Star Trek that ever came before it.

People refuse to see it because of the common false dichotomy.

Transversely, the Star Wars has always had more subtext than people give it credit for. The only thing TLJ did differently was make it more heavy-handed.

Is that how you've convinced yourself that you're the good guy in this?

Because you're wrong, I want you to know that. There wasn't any fire until a bunch of insecure manbabies overreacted to a movie they were incapable of understanding and threw a tantrum all over the internet. No one is ruining Star Wars but these pathetic little boys.

I never said I was a good guy.

And I'm beginning to think your blinded by your hate; For men.

@Awesome Possum and @EnsignRicky , I am beginning to think that you both need to back off, before I have to warn you both. This gets the thread nowhere beneficial for anyone

Seriously?!!

I was simply enjoying reading the banter of this thread, and then I spy this, and By Jove, I couldn't sit by without making a retort.

I feel like Scotty in that Bar in the "Trouble with Tribbles" episode, defending the honor of the Enterprise, this statement has brought my ire to it, I must defend the honor of the Original Universe of Trek! I completely disagree with your assessment of it. Kelvin Universe has more subtext...Pfft! Puh-Leez...:guffaw:

I’m not particularly surprised if this is all true but just as the Kenobi and Fett films haven’t ever actually been officially announced and were purely rumor (with lots of evidence supporting them), this is the same. Rumor.

Regardless, taking this to one cinematic project at a time? Probably a smart idea.

Pretty much this. Star Wars is a wonderful build upon ancient mythology and exploring themes of light and dark. Kelvin Trek goes in to some wonderful themes about the nature of leadership and developing one's potential.

And, to head off any Prime Trek warriors, it isn't the deepest Trek ever. But, that doesn't make it mindless action either. As per usual, the truth lies between the extremes.

@crookeddy , this is now the second time you've posted this kind of retort. The next time you post this or anything like it garners a warning. It is not your place to tell people that they don't belong on this board
No way! It's more like my 4th or 5th time...

As all things take with a grain of salt...
Well, I can't comment on whether Disney would let Solo be moved or whether Solo wanted that, but the rest is easily observable from the outside. It was a bad marketing campaign that undermined a movie that had some roadblocks to being with.

Which is why I can't fathom how Disney/Lucasfilm would conclude that an Obi-Wan movie, for example, would share the same fate.
