I respectfully disagree. IMHO the Ken Adam/Ralph McQuarrie concept works. The Discovery (as seen) works. And Fandango831's sketch also works.
I'm surprised there hasn't been any discussion about what the interior might look like based on the exterior - am hoping for a cross between the TOS Bridge, and Voyagers.
Based on the exterior, I am expecting something more a cross between early TNG and ENT. Earth tones, moody lighting (and low ceilings?), a utilitarian/techy vibe with a dash of retro flavour.I'm surprised there hasn't been any discussion about what the interior might look like based on the exterior - am hoping for a cross between the TOS Bridge, and Voyagers.
Samuel and I break down the early Discovery design to show you all the direct tie ins to other Starfleet vessels. Some amazing renders done by Samuel with a 3D model made by the very talented Barry Chapman make this a very special episode. Comparison shots to the other Starfleet designs we all know and love, really put this ship into perspective. So....whether you love the design, or hate it, we think there is something for everyone in today's Trekyards.
I know it won't happen, but if they go for the Ralph McQuarrie Planet of the Titans Enterprise interior, I will be the happiest Trekkie in the world:

USS Discovery Full Breakdown:
In this episode of Trekyards it is revealed that the designers of the USS Discovery put a lot more thought into designing the ship then most people think.
They claim their insider says the size is "about right", but I thought Discovery looked much larger. Then again, window sizes are pretty much all we have to go on, and they can vary quite a bit.
The interior will be all on one level, with ceilings so low that everyone will have to walk around hunched over.Well to be fair as it's a trek ship we can expect several different sizes none of which will match up with the interior!

I think I just shed a tear from laughter. This is my favorite comparison because truthfully I didn't like her at first. I can appreciate your creative reason for disliking it. haha. garden shovel. It just always reminded me of a garden shovel with warp nacelles. I did like the Nova-class, it was pretty slick.
