Discovery is a very good show

No. Discovery truly deserves the moniker of 'STD'. Because that's what is a disease, a blight; on the star trek franchise as a whole. I can not properly put into words my contempt for the series. And I've only seen the first two seasons and the the first few eps of s3. I cant tolerate anymore. It hurts. It makes me physically ill to watch.

Hyperbolic nonsense.

Who do you think you are impressing?

No, this isn't tiresome at all.

Well for your sake, I'm glad you've stopped watching. If you find yourself unable to resist watching the rest of S3 in spite of these symptoms, it might pay to seek medical advice.

Much like my neighbours who obsessively listen for my every movement so they can stomp on me, it seems like hating discovery takes up so much time and energy for some people that the show actually wins out, regardless of how much they hate it, because it got 'em good.
Indeed. Their hate-watching contributed to the total number of views DSC has received in general. So I want to thank them for helping me to get 65 episodes of my favorite Star Trek series. Couldn't have done it without them!

In addition to an upcoming spin-off TV Movie (S31), an upcoming spin-off series (SFA), and another spin-off that some people like to pretend isn't a spin-off but still actually is (SNW).

DISCO is a bizarre series, I actually enjoyed Season 1. It was striving for a kind of Game of Thrones in space vibe. It was it's own thing and it was very different to previous Star Trek. But it varied in tone and by the end of season 1, the serious space show had become very camp, but watchable.

Season 2 left me cold, there was a complete re-tooling of the show and it descended into madness, with the Red Angel suit making not a lick of sense. Season 3 was better, though to me, it felt like Star Wars - no bad thing! And then I couldn't make it past the middle of Season 4.

As ever, SMG and Doug Jones elevate the show and do their best with the material.

I guess history will judge. Will people still talk about the show in 50 years? Will they get their own version of Picard Season 3. I dunno.

"Yum, Yum", giant turboshafts and that weird bit where 'Gene' the cleaner is scraping up dead person - those things really grate. The casual cruelty evident in this particular scene really started to turn me off the show:

I just don’t get that attitude. If you don’t like a show, not watching it is always an option. I don’t waste time complaining about the 4-ish seasons of Voyager I never got around to seeing.

Though, to be very brutally honest, I wish they didn't delay DSC Season 5 until 2024. It feels like the Disco Era is over. The fifth season is going to feel so removed, time-wise, from the rest of the series. So, even though it's not, the fifth season will seem more like a Reunion. Not amongst the Discovery crew obviously, but between us and the series.

Yeah. It’s funny to think that since Disco Season 4, we’ll have had the last two seasons of Picard and the first two of SNW.

That’s just Sonequa Martin-Green’s style, and I guess it either works for you or it doesn’t. Personally it didn’t bother me at all any more than human Saru getting emotional during Burn Kid’s arc.

Discovery actually made me like Sonequa Martin-Green a lot more because I think she shows a lot more sides and nuanced change from her experiences and I saw her ability to do more. The first time I watched Discovery season 1 she got on my nerves because I disliked her on the Walking Dead and for most of season 1 she’s dealing with similar issues to her character there.

But I’m halfway through S3 now and I feel like I appreciate her so much more as an actress/character seeing her change over time in the little ways that people do (in a way she didn’t get a chance to do on TWD).

I think season 2 ranks up there with the best star trek franchise seasons. Season 4 pulls up a close second for me.

While flawed and unsettled, season 1 had a certain edge to it, seemingly in part because of its birthing. I like it too.

Season 3 had good moments and lesser moments. It just didn't quite measure up as well.

I think season 5 is the season fandom in a wider sense will see the full potential of the show.
