Am I desensitised to drama? I don't even think she's that dramatic. She's pretty tough. If we are listing most dramatic trek characters, she's not at the top. The events of her life are/were dramatic but she doesn't create drama.
I'm not saying she necessarily caused drama. She just tends to react more emotionally than what I've seen in other Treks.
A newbie ragging on Michael Burnham with a bunch of cliched, easily refutable canards.

Compared to Troi or Crusher or Jadzia? Or, for that matter, Worf or Archer? I personally don't think she reacts dramatically.
Or Sisko/Odo/the EMH/McCoy/Wesley/Archer…whoever you want to name.
Star Trek would operate pretty poorly as a drama if its characters didn’t behave dramatically.

Burnham had a more unique burden due to repressing it for years. I would not expect her emotions to be normal. By any stretch.
On the edge of an emotional breakdown?? She doesn't even cry. She's practically stoic the whole first season. In the end of season 2 she acts just like I would if someone told me my dead mom was alive. Archer irrationally loses his shit every other episode and he got to be captain, despite his emotional tirades screwing up diplomacy efforts multiple times...
Ok. We see captains go emotional all the time. One, I think she is in good company but I think she is a fascinating character. One I identify a lot with.

I never said Archer was a good captain. I enjoyed ENT growing up but looking back it messed a lot up
Idk, Picard and Kirk never came off like Burnham did in season 2-3 to me unless it was an extreme situation.
Idk, I guess I never cared for her whole secret sister thing (reminds me too much of Sybok) so it was hard for me to get invested in the issues she faced.
So? There's more captains than those two who are very much designed as extremely heroic.
I don't care for the secret sister thing either. Doesn't make her a lesser character.

I liked Discovery, though I wish it would have made it's characters and stories stronger than what they were. I always felt they were holding back for some reason. I think exploring Burnham's interactions with other crew members and showing how those interactions influenced her decisions would have given wider appeal. Outside of racists and misogynists at least.
I don't mind the secret sister thing. I did at first but then I enjoyed the Spock origin arc and the fact that his struggles with being half human were explored through Burnham. I also kind of felt like it was Vulcanesque to have multiple siblings they never mentioned unless it came up. (That would be illogical 
That’s just Sonequa Martin-Green’s style, and I guess it either works for you or it doesn’t. Personally it didn’t bother me at all any more than human Saru getting emotional during Burn Kid’s arc.
No. Discovery truly deserves the moniker of 'STD'. Because that's what is a disease, a blight; on the star trek franchise as a whole. I can not properly put into words my contempt for the series. And I've only seen the first two seasons and the the first few eps of s3. I cant tolerate anymore. It hurts. It makes me physically ill to watch.

Korax: No. I just remembered. There is one Earthman who doesn't remind me of a Regulan blood worm. That's Kirk. A Regulan blood worm is soft and shapeless, but Kirk isn't soft. Kirk may be a swaggering, overbearing, tin-plated dictator with delusions of godhood, but he's not soft.
(Chekov leaps to his feet)

Korax: That's right, and if I think that Kirk is a Denebian slime devil, well that's my opinion too.

Anyway, you stuck around watching DSC a lot longer than I watched ENT. I dropped ENT after six episodes, back in '01. So you must've either not hated Discovery as much as you claim, or you really do enjoy hate-watching.
