Discovery and "The Orville" Comparisons

Where's my new Orville episode!? Such incongruous treachery!

Orville figures are US only...it’s not available outside the US yet. (Can you believe that happens in the 21st century? )
Hell, there are programs that I want to see in the US that are only allowed to be seen in the UK! So yes, I can fully believe that. In fact, I get annoyed every time I see someone whine about geoblocking for something they demand that they should be allowed to see.

I am used to it. But...Orville is apparently going to be on Fox here...but I don’t think there’s an air date for it yet. You would think they would chase the buzz. Admittedly am moving House so TV is...less than optimal atm, and I may have missed it actually starting.

I think someone said it starts in January in the UK.

was there an explanation given as to why no new episode was updated today?
Because TV
At the start of a season most full order series (22 eps.) go 8 or 9 new eps. and then start repeats until November sweeps where they pull out the 'Big Gun' episodes

The Orville has a half season (13 eps.) total - so yeah, given that they still need something for November sweeps, it follows they'd so repeat after 5/6 episodes.

They're back with new episodes next week.

Even if they'd aired straight through, 13 episodes would have been enough to last through November sweeps.

A little ratings update:

episode --- live + SD --- live + 3 --- live + 7

1 --- 2.71 / 8.558 mio --- 3.5 / 11.3 mio
2 --- 2.17 / 6.631 mio --- 2.8 / 8.415 mio --- 3.1 / 9.054 mio
3 --- 1.10 / 4.053 mio
4 --- 1.05 / 3.698 mio ------------- ? ------------- 2.1 / 6.811 mio
5 --- 0.91 / 3.431 mio ------------- ? ------------- 2.1 / 6.786 mio
6 --- 0.99 / 3.371 mio

TV by the Numbers says this about delayed viewing:

And here is the most recent renew/cancel index.
I remember these ratings updates in the Ent forum back when the show was running. Say what one may about CBSAA, and I have my gripes with the app too, but I am glad DSC isn't in a situation where we have to see these ratings updates after every episode.

Actually it's available to stream on Hulu and iTunes.

At this point after viewing both, I highly recommend the Orville, STD and I suddenly realized people are just being charitable by referring to Discovery as DISC or DSC..too funny.. I think ST:D is more of a reboot with similar Canon mixed in, but it's not the star trek universe I remember. Why for the life of me, we couldn't get an Enterprise J series with a series middle arc which dealt with the sphere builders and the beginnings of the temporal wars. That, no..NO, THAT, would have been a series I'd definitely pay to see. Now as it is, I feel like I'm paying for brutality, and punishment with Discovery..it's sooo bad. The over acting, the darkness..the horrible dark feel. Its like BSG on a bad day..just not my cup of tea..which it may to some, but for me..

I'm looking forward to the next Orville.
