Which do you use to refer to Discovery, DIS or DSC? Or do you use a different shorthand reference for the series?
DSC. The true TLAs from the first four shows are easy. ENT is intuitive, and something like EPR would be extremely contrived. VOY and VGR compete more or less evenly, but I don't want to confuse the show with V'Ger the entity. For preferring DSC over DIS, I would have no excuse whatsoever - if not for the fact that it's the official abbreviation in-universe, stenciled onto the shuttles! Timo Saloniemi
For me, DIS opens the door a little to much for the various 'Discoprise-jokes'. Furthermore, I've never read DIS for 'Discovery' until now, so in my eyes, it's just too late for a debate about that. DSC has been established, so let it be established.
ST: D connects best with my brain for some reason. What's the consensus for Voyager, VOY or VGR? I guess the one word shows are tougher than the multi like TNG and DS9 which feels the most natural.
My own personal view this: DSC: Official and correct. DIS: Used by Memory Alpha, so acceptable. Disco: Used in the show and quite catchy, so acceptable. STD: Generally used by puerile haters who get their opinions from trashy, fake-hate peddling YouTubers. I generally don't converse with these people on the subject of DSC. They very rarely have anything worth listening to so I don't waste my time. I'm sure a few fall through the net, but I'm okay with that if I avoid those who call it STD.
I go with VOY. I've used it since 1995, when I labelled the tape I recorded "Caretaker" on. I first saw VGR used in the 1996 editions of the Star Trek Encyclopedia and the Star Trek Chronology. I liked VOY better. Apparently so did most other people I encountered when I first got online that same year. It's what I liked, it's what I saw everyone else using, so VOY it was.
I only use DSC because I saw it first. DSC is also used by the show, the shuttle craft ID's all start with DSC. It might not be an abbreviation, because the Shenzhou shuttle craft use SHN (the mirror ones use SHNZ). However, it could easily stand for Discovery Shuttle Craft, as we see 2 other shuttles in the series, SPT and SMT, which were Starfleet Prison and Medical Transports Though that wouldn't make sense as there's probably hundreds of Starfleet ships that start with the letter 'D'.
