Diet & Fitness Support Thread

^ I definitely catch more crud from my kids than I did before I had 'em ... but I don't know where this strep came from. The last time I had it was 12 years ago (and that was the first time since childhood). This time, nobody else in my family is even the tiniest bit ill, even the college student who shared a teeny tiny Amtrak sleeping cabin with me when I first started getting sick.

I still have very little voice, but otherwise I'm feeling pretty darned good! Maybe in another couple of days I'll be ready to go back to the gym. :)

The thing is my wife is a teacher and she teaches 3 and 4 year olds and even though she gets sick quite often I never seem to pick up what she has. Of course when I have kids I'll probably be working with less sleep which will in turn not be good for my immune system, so who knows. I will hopefully find out the answer to that question within the next few years. :)

I haven't checked in here for a while, but I'm still in pretty good shape. I hit the gym 2-3 times a week, and I've lost a couple of pounds over the past month. No gains in the weightlifting dept, just maintaining what I've got.

After about a month of really crappy workouts, the last 3 have been awesome. I'm actually sore for the first time in a while.

Well I didn't make it to the gym on Friday but my wife and I went for a brisk walk on Saturday for over an hour and both had a good sweat on when we got back so at least I got some cardio in. We're planning on making it a regular Saturday activity now.

I tested my new state of precarious good health by spending the day cleaning my garage. I survived all the box lifting and moving pretty well, so I think I'm probably ready to go back to the gym. I also took a 1.5 mile walk with the dog and didn't feel dizzy and out of breath. Yay!

That's great! Don't forget to TALK TO YOUR DOCTOR!

I'm going to yoga this afternoon. The plan is to try and do some weight training/ circuit stuff this week now that my knees have stopped hurting.

My workouts have been awesome of late despite being really tired. I feel like I have a longer way to go than normal...which is true...but I hate feeling it. Still, I know its noticeable because of reactions I am getting.

RAMA

I had a great workout last night. I lifted for about an hour and increased my weights on triceps . I followed up the weights with a 20 minute run on the treadmill. Tonight I'm going to try HIIT. Pray for me.

So I tried HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) last night and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised not only by my performance but by how much I liked it. This will definitely be on my cardio agenda from now on.

I went the whole summer with the idea in my head that I would cut in order to develop more of a beach body. But I have no abs, and I only went swimming once the whole summer...and that was by myself in my apartment's swimming pool.

It got really cold the last couple days, so I know summer is coming to a close. Forget cutting. It's time for my winter bulk. Bulking is so much more fun. Time to eat like food is going out of style!

Good luck with the Bulk. I'm going on a Caribbean cruise over Christmas so I will definitely continue what I've been doing since I've lost about 7 pounds so far.

I've done a bit of that and it's amazing how quickly you improve! It's hard for me to force myself to do it, but I know the results I get from it are hard to argue with.

I went back to the gym for the first time in a couple of weeks (after getting over strep throat) and had a great workout! I didn't lose any strength, even after being so sick. Hooray. :) Time to step up the weights!

I ran 2.4 miles, and it got way too hot while I was doing it. I would definitely have rather sat on the couch and read a book! :D

^Glad to hear you're feeling well enough to be back at the gym!

I had a pretty good workout last night despite the fact that I hadn't slept well the night before. I even managed to up some of my weights. Tonight it's HIIT again. Incredibly, I'm looking forward to it!
